NEWTOWNCASHEL DRAMA GROUP
Newtown Cashel Drama Group are delighted to announce that this seasons play is John McDwyer’s, "Callaghan’s Place", a touching, shocking and comical play centred around a community near Carrick on Shannon. An observation of the lifestyle in a rural community, the issues facing a family trying to make a decent living, and the pressure of urbanisation. The mood is lightened with a generous helping of outrageous humour as the characters reflect on life, love and the rest of the world.

REGIONAL PIONEER DINNERR DANCE
160 guests had a very enjoyable evening at the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Friday night.  Thanks to “The J & S Sound”, The Rustic Inn, Declan Gilmore, everyone who supported and those who worked so hard to get people there and ensure their enjoyment.
The Annual Mass for Deceased Pioneers of the Longford Region will be celebrated in St Mary’s Church Lanesboro on Friday November 23rd at 7.30pm.  All Pioneers are welcome and encouraged to attend.

DEATHS
We offer our sincere sympathy to the family, neighbours and friends of Rose Slevin nee Casey, Cornadough, who died on Wednesday last week.  May her soul rest in peace.
We also offer our sincere sympathy to the family, neighbours and friends of John Smyth, Tipper, who died on Friday.  May his soul rest in peace.

ST MARY'S NATIONAL SCHOOL PARENTS ASSOCIATION.
The following committee was elected at a recent A.G.M.: Chairperson - Ger Hand, Vice Chairperson - Lorraine Murtagh, Secretary - Caroline Murtagh, Assistant Secretary - Patricia Farrell, Treasurer - Ann Kelly, Assistant Treasurer - Christine Casey, PRO - Martina Mulvihill, Parents Representative on Board of Management - Barbara Martin and  committee member Mary Skelly. The next meeting will be on Wed the 12th Dec at 9pm in the GAA clubhouse.  All parents are welcome to attend.  We would like to thank everyone who helped make  the Halloween Fancy

The Christmas cards sponsored by the Tidy Towns will soon be on sale in the shops.
It is a beautiful winter scene of the village by Artist John Nankivell.  It was John who did the lovely drawing of the village so highly praised by the Tidy Towns judges each year

JUNIOR CHOIR
A rehearsal will be held in the Church on Saturday 17th from 5.30pm – 6.30pm.  There are two Do This In Memory Masses to prepare for between now and Christmas, as well as our Christmas Day Children’s Mass so we hope for a good turnout!  All are welcome!  

SET DANCING
Set Dancing classes continues in the Lifebelt Bar, Ballyleague, on Tuesday evenings at 8.00 p.m. Why not come along to the classes for a great evening’s fun.

COMPUTER COURSE
Longford VEC will provide basic computer classes for adults at St Mary’s National School if there is sufficient interest.  The programme will run over a 6-8 week period on Thursdays, 8.00pm – 10.00pm.  Interest in the course may be indicated by phoning the school (043) 332 5433, between 9.00 and 9.20am, or 3.00 – 3.30pm for application form.  Alternatively text name and address to (086) 301 5587.

Newtowncashel Toddler Group meets in “The Hill” every Tuesday morning from 9.45am – 12.00 noon.  All welcome!  See you there!

COUNTY LONGFORD RURAL TRANSPORT.
There are a number of spaces available on some of the services, so we would encourage people from that area to avail of the services to keep it activated in that region. The Services are Flexible and Demand Responsive. “If you don’t use it – you lose it”. Fares are: Single €3. Return €5. ALL Age Groups are welcome to travel and the Free Travel Pass is accepted.
Once weekly O/W Service No.13&13A (Tuesday & Saturday) to LONGFORD is provided by Bernie Hackett: 087-2502186.
Once weekly O/W Service No.19 (Friday) to LANESBORO, provided by Farrelly’s Coaches: 043-3322222.
Once fortnightly O/F Service (No.17) (FRIDAY) to BALLYMAHON is provided by Anthony O’Haire: 087-9004876. This route comes from Portnaure-Pollagh-Newtowncashel direction into Ballymahon, BUT can deviate, to facilitate any passenger who wish to travel to Ballymahon for shopping or on business (Banking etc).  Note: The Once fortnightly O/F Service No.17  to Ballymahon on Friday has spaces available and does need support and a greater uptake. The Service is “Flexible” and “Demand Responsive”.

DOODLE 4 GOOGLE
Longford kids called to ‘Doodle 4 Google’ - Children across Longford are once again being challenged to get doodling for this year’s Doodle 4 Google competition.
This year, Google is hoping to inspire the next generation of great Irish inventors with the theme “My Invention”. The winning doodle will be seen by millions of Internet users when it appears on the Google Ireland homepage Google.ie for a day in April 2013.
The winning student will receive a scholarship of €5,000 to go towards their college studies, while the winning teacher and student will also receive a Chromebook laptop each and their school will receive a €10,000 technology grant. the deadline for entries is December 10th 2012. TEENAGE MASS
Following a very promising initial get-together, teenagers are invited to a further meeting in "The Hill" on Wednesday November 14th at 8.00pm.  All teenagers are urged to attend.

DO THIS IN MEMORY – MUSIC
Do This In Memory, Music for the Church Year with Derek Mahady and Fr Turlough Baxter.  This workshop will present music that is appropriate for liturgies with children, especially “Do This in Memory” or Family Masses.  The selection offers what will be appealing to young people but also to the whole community.  Covering most seasons of the year, a number of pieces will also highlight the Year of Faith.  All are welcome to attend; choir members and directors; Family Liturgical Teams; Teachers.  The workshop takes place on Monday November 26th at St Mel’s College, Pastoral Centre, at 8.00pm.  Also St Joseph’s Centre, Leitrim Village, on Monday 19th, and St Colmcille’s Church Ballinahoun, on Tuesday 20th.  For further details contact Fr Baxter on (087) 997 2259.

ADORATION
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament continues on Wednesdays from 3.00pm – 9.00pm.  There are vacancies for several more participants.  All are welcome.

THE ROSARY
The Rosary is recited in the Church on Fridays at 7.30pm.  All are welcome.
