STREET RESURFACING
The roadway through the Village has now been partially resurfaced and the road markings are laid. Hopefully when the remainder of the roadway will be resurfaced, the project will do much to enhance the streetscape. Compliments to Sean Farrell, Longford County Council and the Contractor

THE TRANSITION FROM NATIONAL SCHOOL TO SECONDARY SCHOOL
Newtowncashel Parents’ Association are organising a talk on The Transition from National School to Secondary School on Thursday May 24th in "The Hill" Community Centre, Newtowncashel, at 8.00pm.The talk is aimed at parents of children in 1st Year, 6th Class and 5th Class. Admission is free because of funding from the Parent’s Association. Parents from neighbouring schools are most welcome.
CANAL WALK
A walk along the Canal from Brannigan Harbour to Foigha, Keenagh, will be held from 2.00pm – 4.00pm on Sunday June 3rd, in aid of The Friends of St Luke’s for Cnacer Research and Cancer Care. All are welcome, bring family and friends! Enjoy a relaxing afternoon’s walk, while supporting a great charity, followed with music after at Jimmy Leavy’s Pub. EUCHARISTIC CONGRESS
A number of neighbouring parishes are considering running a bus to the R.D.S on Tuesday, 12th June, leaving at 8:00am and returning at 6:00pm. The theme of the day is “Marriage and the Family”. The trip will be subsidised by the parish. Names to Fr Brady by this Sunday, 20th May, please.
ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT
takes place on Wednesdays, 3:00pm to 9:00pm. Recitation of the Rosary continues on Fridays at 7:30pm until the end of May all are invited to make a special effort to attend the Rosary during the month.
WORLD COMMUNICATION DAY
On World Communication Day we thank Deirdre o Boyle who promotes the “Irish Catholic” in Cashel, and the Dennigan Family who distribute the newsletter to the residents of Derryhawn.
LAY MINISTERS
Lay Ministers from Cashel and adjoining parishes are invited and encouraged to attend an evening of input and discussion on the topic, “Lay Ministry in the Church, in the Longford Arms Hotel, on Wednesday 30th, from 7:30pm to 9:00pm. The get together is intended to deepen understanding of Lay Ministry and foster reflection on new possibilities.
