NEWTOWNCASHEL PLAYGROUND
Newtowncashel playground committee would like to thank everyone that supported their recent fundraiser in any way possible.
Thanks to everyone that donated money, food and prizes and to everyone that bought tickets, food and entered the tug of war competition.
The Tug of War was a fantastic success with 12 teams entering with some very hard fought and tough pulls.
Congratulations goes to the two teams that won both male and female and thanks also to all the other teams for coming from far and near to enter and have the craic.
A big thank you to all the non-committee members who helped out on the day like the fantastic 5 a side team of Gerry and Mark Skelly, Anne Kelly, Lena Kenny and Gillian Brogan for cooking and keeping everyone fed all day, to the referee John Grace for keeping control of the competition and to Paul Kelly our local compare for the day. Thanks also to John Kenny, Mary Scally, Gary Beattie and Grainne Farrell for selling raffle tickets and to Herbert Farrell and Donna Bermingham for looking after our hamster game and bouncy castle.
Thanks to Enda Curran for supplying the bouncing castle free of charge.
With the weather being perfect on the day it set the tone for what was a fantastic fun day for all the families of the parish and it was great to see the parish and Local pub buzzing again.  

CYCLING GROUP  
Nine cyclists assembled on Friday evening for their first spin.  They escaped with just one rain shower!  Next meeting on Tuesday, 2nd June, 8.00 p.m., at “The Hill”.  Routes and distances to cater for all cyclists.  Helmets compulsory

WALKING JOGGING
Walking / jogging groups - Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm from 'The Local'. Everybody welcome.

JUNIOR CHOIR
The Junior Choir hold a rehersal this Saturday evening the 6th of June from 5p.m. to 6p.m. in the Church.All members are asked to attend.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The Parents Association are having their fundraising Table Quiz on Saturday 13th June in The Peer Inn at 9pm... Table of four €40... There will be a raffle and plenty of spot prizes on the night!! Anyone wishing to donate spot prizes for the night can do so by bringing them along on the night or by giving to any committee member.

NEWTOWNCASHEL COMMUNITY GAMES
Training continues every week for field and track events with the county finals now on the 14th of June in Ballymahon gaa grounds.
U16 draught team are through to the Leinster Semi-Finals which will take place in Newbridge on the 4th of July.
Training will soon start again for this event.
Presentation of medals for Cashel field and track event winners will take place after County finals are over.

INFORMATION EVENING
Five Rivers Ireland, is a service that recruits and supports foster families. They are holding an information evening in the Longford Arms Hotel on the 1st of July.  This information evening is aimed at anyone interested in fostering, as there is a need for more carers in the Longford area.
The information evening will be held in the Longford Arms Hotel on the evening of the 1st July 2015 from 7-9pm.

SIAMSA
An Irish Language Summer Course (SIAMSA!) will take place from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July in Gaelscoil Longfoirt.  The course will take place from 9.30am to 3.00pm each day and will cater for students from Second Class to First Year.  Further information and applications forms available from Yvonne Ní Mhurchú 087-2642665.

CASHEL P.T.A.A.
The Annual Pioneer Outing takes place on Wednesday the 15th of July,destination Dublin.Details are as follows.Depart from The Hill.Further pickups en route. 9.30 a.m. Restroom break at the Applegreen M4 Service Station 10.30 a.m. Tea/Coffee and scones at Glasnevin Cemetery including the O'Connell crypt and tower,the graves of Michael Collins and Constance Markievicz.This is a particularly interesting visit as we approach the centenary of 1916. 12.00  noon.Guided tour of the National Botanical Gardens. 1.00 p.m. Opportunity for lunch at the gardens restaurant. 2.00 p.m. Board coach for the National Museum of Ireland,Kildare St. This is a self-guided visit with amazing exhibits on view. 4.30 p.m.Free time at the Liffey Valley shopping centre. Option of dinner in Dublin before departure,or on the homeward journey. The cost is €40.00,payable when booking.The charge includes,coach hire,driver/guide,morning coffee, and admission to to designated places of interest.It does not include lunch and dinner which are at the discretion of individuals. CATERERS PROGRAMME
The EDI Centre ,Athlone Rd, are holding a 50 week full time programme in Catering/Lifestyle Fetac Level 4 with modules in the following;
Short Order Cooking,Information Technology,Communicsations,Work Experience,Restauraunt Service,Customer Service,Personal Development.
9.30AM TO 4.30PM Monday to Thursday  and 9.30PM to 1.30 pm.Frdays.

BOIL WATER NOTICE
Irish Water and Longford County Council wish to advise all customers on the Cashel Public Water Supply that the boil water notice has been lifted. Normal use may now resume.

IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION
The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. IRISH CANCER SOCIETY
The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again. HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting.  It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.  To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.  If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at  087 2050589.  

CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
The Student Scholarship,sponsored by Ballymahon and District Credit Union is operational again this year. It is open to all Leaving Cert students attending the Vocational and Mercy Secondary Schools. The student must be completing a FÁS Apprenticeship, full time Certificate, Diploma or Degree course at any University, IT or approved third level college. All students who wish to enter the draw, must be a member of the Credit Union before the 31st of May 2015.The recipient of the Scholarship will receive €1000.00 per annum for a maximum of three years.

ST BRIGIDS GAA
Killashee St Brigids GAA football club is holding a fundraising night at Longford Greyhound Stadium on Friday 12 of June. Admission tickets Tickets €10 available from all committee members, or contact Owen Johnston 087 7615501 or Kevin Connell 0877679967 Admission for CHILDREN are FREE.

SWIMMING LESSONS

ROSARY.
Recitation of the Rosary has resumed and continues on Fridays at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome.
