FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
First Holy Communion will be celebrated in Cashel,on Sunday May the 8th at 12.00 noon.

TUG OF WAR
A great day was had by all ,last Sunday the 1st of May.,at the fundraiser for the local playground,with the tug-of-war being the highlight of the day.There were many other fun events also with face painting,water baloon throwing BBQ and many other fun family events..Many thanks to all who organised and also those of you who attended the event or contributed in any way.the event.

GAA
Well done to the Cashel Senior Football on their great win over Kenagh ,at McGann Park,in the League last weekend. Final score.. Kenagh0- 7,   Cashel 2-11.

ROSARY
Recitation of the Rosary continues Friday evening at 7.30 p.m.

TRIP
A trip to the Fr.Patrick Peyton Memorial  Centre ,Atytymass,Co.Mayo  will take place on Tuesday the 26th of July 2016.  The cost is €30  including refreshments,lunch and entertainment, Coach departs Kenagh at 9.00 a.m.,returning at 6.00 p.m. approx..To secure a place,please contact Rose Egan,kenagh,by post including contact details and payment.

WALKING GROUP
The Walking Group continues on Saturday mornings leaving The Hill at
10.00 a.m. All are welcome.

LOURDES TRIP

PLAY
The Latin School Players wish to present their 3 act play " The Real Mc Coy",by Tommy Marren in the latin school community centre Moyne on Saturday 7th May, Sunday 8th, Friday 13th and Saturday 14th May @ 8.30 pm sharp. Tickets on sale in Moyne Cross stores, Corrigans, Lynches of Arva and Mc Seain's of Cornafean. This is a hilarious comedy suitable for both young and old.

The Maria Edgeworth Literary Festival 2016
The Maria Edgeworth Literary Festival 2016 will take place on Saturday 14th May with a host of events planned for the day.  The programme of events is as follows:-
The Rectory
10.30 a.m.- Children’s Story-telling with Eamonn Brennan.  
Presentation of The Deirdre Purcell Perpetual Cup and prizes for the children’s poetry competition by Poet, Mary Melvin Geoghegan.  Harpist:  Shannon Browne
St. Mary’s Church: “St Mary’s to St. Johns”
2.00 p.m.-  Historical Walk with Tour Guide Matt Farrell commencing at St. Mary’s R.C. Church followed by light refreshments in the Rectory
St. John’s Church:
4.30 p.m.- Lecture with Prof. Claire Connolly
Historical and Literary Programme St. John’s Church
M.C. Dr. Phillip Brady.
8.00 pm.- Historical & Literary programme with Dr. Ciarán Reilly “Maria Edgeworth, The Famine and Co. Longford”  - Musical interlude with O’Reilly Family
Reading and conversation with Belinda McKeon “Imagined and familiar; the home place in fiction”
Musical interlude with Denise Fulham - Musical finale with O’Reilly family.

Longford Darkness into Light 2016
Longford's third Darkness into Light takes place this coming Saturday , May 7th at 4:15am in the Mall Complex.  There will be walk in registrations in the Mall on May 3rd between 9am and 11am and again between 3pm and 5pm and on May 4th and 5th between 6pm and 8pm.  Anyone who has registered online can also come along to collect t-shirts at these times.  Strictly no parking in the Mall Complex on the morning of the walk - parking details and more on the Darkness into Light Longford Facebook page
