EIRCOM BROADBAND
Broadband -
of those interested in the Eircom broadband competition/project will be held in “The Hill” on
Thursday 6th, at 8.30 p.m. Every organisation in the parish is invited to send a representative,
likewise the farming and business.
TIDY TOWNS
Tidy Towns. A work evening will take place on Wednesday 5th. Members and volunteers are
requested to bring appropriate implements and assemble at “The Hill”, 7.00 p.m.
SCHOOL EXTENSION
The Department of Education and Skills has sanctioned a new classroom, a
resource room and an assisted toilet facility, for St. Mary’s N.S. This is indeed very good news
for the school. We compliment the School Principal and the Chairman of the Board of Management
who dealt with the application. Approval was secured without political intervention. The
process of advancing the project is ongoing.
HARVEST FESTIVAL LAUNCH
This year's Harvest Festival Press Night/Launch takes place Friday night the 8th of August, at 9.30 p.m. in Gav's Bar ,Kenagh. All are welcome and all proceeds of the festival, which takes place in Cashel on Sunday the 23rd of August , are in aid of St.Christophers,Longford.
The Harvest Festival Committee are holding a Table Quiz in the Peer Inn,Lisnacusha,on Friday the 25th of September.
CONGRATULATIONS
Congratulations to Owen Casey who won a bronze medal in the Para Badminton SU 5 men’s
doubles on 28th June. Competing in the inaugural Carlton Irish Para Open in Dublin, he was a
member of the Irish Para Badminton team which took home 5 medals in total.
PIONEER OUTING
A group which spanned the entire age spectrum had a most enjoyable trip to
Dublin, on 15th July. The day was blessed with continuous sunshine, a very real bonus this summer.
Glasnevin Cemetery and the Botanic Gardens presented unique features of interest while the
National Museum afforded remarkable insights into archaeology.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. KENAGH TRIP.
A group trip to the Fr Peyton Memorial Centre in Attymaas. Co Mayo takes place on Tuesday the 22nd of August 2015. The cost of the trip is €30 which includes bus fare ,tea and scones on arrival, lunch and entertainment. Bus will depart from Kenagh Village at 9.30 am and returns to Kenagh at 6pm approx. The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again.
