SOUTHERN GAELS.
Southern Gaels will host an U-
50th Anniversary/Gathering.
We had a great turnout of classmates from 1968 on Sat to celebrate the 50th anniversary of us all starting our secondary school education at Lanesboro Vocational School. Fantastic to meet up with so many from the good old days. In many cases bigger waistlines and less hair but still the same old gang and I would like to thank one and all for making the effort to travel to the occasion.
On the day we remembered classmates who sadly have passed away, 14 in total.
We also remember former teachers who have also passed away.
Today three of our teachers are thankfully alive and well, namely Ollie Fleming, Gabrielle Farrell and Tom Nohilly and a highlight of the day was having Tom in attendance with his wife Margaret. Tom is a wealth of knowledge and his recall is amazing. Tom we wish you many more years of health and happiness.
Thanks to School Principal M/s Bernice Martin who totally supported the idea and was of great help as was School Secretary Breda Maguire. Great to meet people like this who are so helpful and positive. I have had many negative responses with ideas such as this in the past, so Bernice and all at Lanesboro Community College take a bow.
I will eventually be in touch with all classmates to forward photos etc. Thanks. Liam Finnegan
