CHRISTMAS EVENTS
St.Mary's National School Parent's Association hold a Santa 5k Fun Run/Walk this Sunday the 9th of December starting from The Hill at 2 pm.The route is down the Village,past the GAA pitch,Quarry and down to Claras crossroads and back. Entry fee is €20 per family, €10 Euro per adult,and €5 per individual child. All proceeds go towards the Parent's Association . Refreshments served on the day. Please support.
Then afterwards,Santa arrives to The Local ,approx 3.30 pm ,where great fun will be had by both young and old alike.
Then finally,the Village Christmas Tree and Lights will be turned on,heralding a real Christmas feel to our Parish for the Holiday season. Please do come along and get involved in this great Community day.
CHRISTMAS RUN
The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is now in it's 28th year. Over the years it has raised much needed funds for Longford MS and we are again asking for your continued support this year. Walkers start from the Hill at 11.45 and runners at 12.15. Refreshments will be available in the Hall in Lanesborough afterwards and all participants receive a running tshirt sponsored by Peter Hanley Motors. FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid.
