BEST WISHES TO MARTIN.
Following his election launch, in his bid to become President of the G.A.A. ,with a function in the Peer Inn, Lisnacusha, last Thursday night the 3rd of November ,we wish Martin Skelly all the best in his endeavor. Music on the night was by none other than Country Music star,Declan Nerney ,and a great night was had by the huge turnout that was there. . It is a great  honor  for the parish of Cashel, to have someone as capable and competent as Martin,running for this very prestigious position, and we hope that his forthcoming campaign is indeed successful.

ENGAGEMENT
We extend congratulations to both Martin Donlon,Derryshannogue, and Riani Grosskolpf, South Africa, on their recent engagement.

FISHING COMPETITION
Cashel Angling Club held their annual Pike Fishing Competition starting from Barley Harbour on Sunday last, the 6th of November .There was a good turnout of entrants,despite the cold and sometimes gusty day. First Prize  was a 19ft Sheelin boat and was won by Lucka Sankiewicz, with a pike weighing 21 lbs 5 oz.

P.T.A.A.
The Newtowncashel Branch of Longford Regional PTAA,announce that the Annual Dinner Dance will take place this year ,on this  Friday the 11th of November in the Rustic Inn,Abbeyshrule. Music on the night is by T.R.Dallas and his band.Tickets are €25.00 each for this function.Dinner will be served at 9.00 p.m. As always,a great night is in store. Tickets can be purchased from any member of the local committee.

BOG LANE THEATRE

Bog Lane Theatre Ballymahon 2016 One Act Drama Festival takes place from Friday November 18th to Sunday November 20th .
Friday and Saturday night’s performance starts at 8:15 pm sharp with Sundays performance starting at the earlier time of 7:15 pm.
A programme of top quality drama is on the cards with productions from companies across the region.
The adjudicator for this year’s One Act Festival in the Bog Lane is Geoff O'Keeffe. Admission is €12  Concessions €10. For booking telephone Breege at 09064 32230

SETT DANCING CLASSES
Classes commenced on Tuesday 20th September in St. Failtheachs GAA club house at 8pm.
Classes are suitable for beginners and you dont need a partner.
Come along and get fit while having fun.

Classes for children commenced on Tuesday 20th September at 4.15 pm in The Hill in Newtowncashel.
Under 6 years –4.30—5.00
6—9 years 5.00---5.30
9—12 years 5.30---6.00
A teenage class can be arranged should there be a demand for it.
Classes are for boys and girls.

ART CLASSES
Art classes in Ballymahon are to re-commence in October with Tutor Frances Kelleher. Beginners classes on Tuesday mornings and Improvers in the evenings, time to be decided. TOURISM WITH BUSINESS CERTIFICATE
Looking for a career focused course? Then enrol on Longford College of Further Education’s 1 year Tourism with Business programme starting September 2016. Ireland is going through a tourism regeneration with employment potential from Center Parcs and from initiatives such as The Wild Atlantic Way, The Greenway Cycle Project and Ireland’s Ancient East project. The course offers practical business skills for the workplace as well as accreditation from Quality Qualifications Ireland and awards up to 400 CAO points for progression to third level institutions. This course is free to those in receipt of BTEA or who qualify for a SUSI grant* and to holders of a medical card. The registration fee and government levy is €330 for all other students. MACRA
Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.

The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.
To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.
