Irish TV wished to feature a village in Co. Longford that had something pleasant and interesting for visitors and Newtowncashel was chosen. They spent last Wednesday filming all the features including the Water Feature, the Butterfly Garden, the Church grounds, the Sculptures, and the Quarry park.
It will be shown in two weeks time on SKY Channel 191

Our monthly meeting held on Tuesday the 2nd of June last was our last meeting before we break for the Summer months.
It was a very well attended and productive meeting. There is a number of events coming up in the Summer months in which the I.C.A. will take part in. HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival Committee stage a Tractor Run, this Sunday the 14th of June,leaving Kenagh at 12.00 noon, and arriving in Newtowncashel at 1.00 pm ,approximately. Refreshments will be served in The local. Entry fee is €20.00 per tractor. Proceeds to St.Christopher's. It is hoped that many will come out to view the parade of vintage, classic and modern machines.

This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. DEATH
The death occurred on the 28th of May last of Seán Cahill former principal of St Mary's National School, Newtowncashel, from 1974 to 1976. Sean was a much loved and admired man by all those who knew him, particularly his past pupils from Newtowncashel. Many have fond memories of him and his kind and fair ways .Formerly of Ballyleague, Lanesboro, Co.Longford, and beloved husband of the late Olive. To his , children Mairead, Eileen, Bríd, John, Aiden and Maura, grandchildren Fergal, Kevin, Oilbhe, Órlaith, Emer, Cormac, Caroline, Anna, Áine, Caitriona and Aisling, his sister Ann, sons in law, daughters in law, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives and friends,we extend our deepest sympathies. May his Soul Rest in Peace.
