THE VILLAGE
Recently at the Tidy Towns awards ceremony in the Dublin our village not only held its own, but increased by 3 marks from last year which is so difficult to get when near the top.
This year had 800 entries and competition has become fierce especially in the village category.
We thank all who helped us keep on this level.
Next year will be the 40th year in the competition.

CEMETERIES COMMITTEE
The Cashel Cemeteries Committee would like to thank all those who contributed in any way towards the successful running of our Cemetery Sunday’s in Saints Island and Cashel and Pattern Day at Lady’s Well. Thanks to our stewards for their excellent work in ensuring the smooth running of the
events. We would like to pay special tribute to our cemetery caretakers who continue to maintain each venue in pristine condition. A special thank you to all who contributed so generously to the annual collection amounting to €3138.88 this year. This money will be used entirely for the upkeep and maintenance of our cemeteries. A new tractor mower was purchased in August and the committee would like to recognize the
generous contributions of Cllr Gerard Farrell and Longford County Council towards its acquisition.

PART-TIME CARETAKER
St. Mary's N.S. are seeking a part-time Caretaker for the school -  2/3 hours per week. Duties to include general maintenance around the school, grass cutting etc. Applications in writing to the Chairperson, Board of Management before 19th October.

RACE NIGHT
The Race Night,which was held in The Local,last Saturday Night,for Mothers and Others Gaelic Team,was a tremendous success. The organizers wish to thank all those who supported it in any way.

CASHEL GAA LOTTO

CHURCHGATE COLLECTION
The Longford branch of the Irish Kidney Association would like to thank everyone for their very generous contributions at our recent Church gate collection on 5th and 6th Aug. We raised a grand total of 636 Euro. This money together with all other Church gate collections in Longford will be used to help dialysis and Renal patients in need of support in Co. Longford. Your generosity is very much appreciated.

SYMPATHY
The death occurred of Gerry Mullen,formerly of Cornadough,last Tuesday the 3rd of October. To his mother Bigid,brother J.T. and all his relatives and friends,we extend our deepest sympathies..May his Soul Rest in Peace.

ART CLASSES
Beginner art classes with tutor Frances Kelleher commencing Tuesday morning 17th October 10.30 to 12.30. Venue Ballymahon tba. Please bring along sketch pad, notebook, pencils and soft eraser.
Improver classes, Ballymahon Art Club, continue each Tues evening 7 - 9 at Betty Fox's Main St. All welcome for each session.

Sett Dancing classes @8 pm in St. Failtheachts G.A.A clubhouse .

TAE KWON DO CLUB
Newtowncashel Tae Kwon Do Club every Friday night in The Hill. Qualified Master Instructor.- 8th Dan Black Belt.  Classes,Children 7-8 pm / Adults 8/9 pm.

MACRA
Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.
To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.
