CHRISTMAS DAY RUN
It's that time of year again when preparations are beginning for the Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland. This is the 25th year of the event and over the course of that time approximately €180,000 has been raised for Longford MS. Last year 175 people took part and we're again asking for your continued support this year and hopefully we'll be able to further increase the number of participants and sponsorship for what is a very worthy cause. The annual Longford regional Pioneer Dinner Dance will take place,in The Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule,on Friday night the 13th of November..Dinner will be served at 9.00 p.m. Music is by T.R. Dallas...All are welcome.
Auditions for Trad Musicians
Joe Callaghan C.C.E., Edgeworthstown, intend to hold auditions for musicians in order to form Céilí Bands to compete at the county Fleadh Cheoil in May 2016. Depending on entries, Céilí Bands may be formed for musicians in three age categories, Under 12 years, 12 to 15 years and 15 to 18 years. You do not need to be a member of Comhaltas to play in a Céilí Band. Successful band members will be expected to attend all practices.
