CHRISTMAS IN CASHEL
Last Sunday the 9th of December,saw a brilliant Community Day for our parish come to fruition
St.Mary's National School Parent's Association held a Santa 5k Fun Run/Walk , starting from The Hill at 2 pm.The route was down the Village,past the GAA pitch,Quarry and down to Claras crossroads and back. Refreshments were served on the day. Thanks to Super Valu Lanesboro and Super Valu Ballymahon for their kind generosity in sponsoring said refreshments.
Then afterwards,Santa arrived to The Local ,approx 3.30 pm ,where great fun wias had by both young and old alike.
Then finally,the Village Christmas Tree and Lights were turned on by Robyn Neilon,heralding a real Christmas feel to our Parish for the Holiday season. The Village is now looking resplendent from miles around..Well done to all involved and thanks to everyone for their kind donations to make it possible.

CONGRATULATIONS
We extend Congratulations to Cyril Rollins on his appointment to the Motorsport Ireland Commission,Cyril has been selected to represent Midland Motor Club along with 9 other Motor clubs,Westmeath,Birr,Cavan,Monaghan,Galway,Clare,Sligo,Mayo and Donegal.Cyril was voted in 8 to 2 and will take up position in Jan 2019.He has many years experience in Motorsport from competing in Rallies to organising and acting as Safety officer in many events throughout the year.He has sat on the Competitor Advisory Committee for the past 10 years so is no stranger to the Motorsport fraternity.We wish him well in the future
JUNIOR CHOIR
There will be a rehearsal for Cashel Junior Choir,this Sunday the 16th of December,after 10.30 a.m. Mass.Anyone wishing to do a prayer of the faithful on Christmas Day,can collect it at this rehearsal.
CHRISTMAS RUN
The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is now in it's 28th year. Over the years it has raised much needed funds for Longford MS and we are again asking for your continued support this year. Walkers start from the Hill at 11.45 and runners at 12.15. Refreshments will be available in the Hall in Lanesborough afterwards and all participants receive a running tshirt sponsored by Peter Hanley Motors. FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid.
