CEMETERY SUNDAYS
The following are the dates for this year's Cemetery Sundays in Newtowncashel.
This Sunday 18th  August ,Saint's Island Cemetery
Sunday the 25th August ,Cashel Cemetery.
Masses at 12 Noon.
People attending are asked to co-operate with the stewards on the day. Anyone with special requirements are asked to contact any member of the Cemetery Committee.
There will be a collection at each Cemetery.This collection is optional and funds go towards the maintenance and upkeep of our Cemeteries,

LADY WELL
The Lady Well Pattern Day takes place on 8th of September at 11 a.m.  

CHURCHGATE COLLECTION
The Longford Branch of the Irish Kidney Association would like to sincerely thank everyone for their generous contribution of €466.50 from their Churchgate Collection on Saturday the 3rd and Sunday the 4th of august.

National Heritage Week event at Newtowncashel
Saturday 17th August between 2:00pm and 4:00pm
Visit this fantastic community park with Mathew Parkes,
Geological Curator in the Natural History Museum, Dublin
to discover limestone rock, how it was extracted and what it was used for – including the most famous building in the county, St. Mel’s Cathedral.
See also the sculptural works in the park and see how the character of the rock shapes the artist’s choices. A second talk will take place at 4pm at St. Mel’s Cathedral the same day. This event is taking place to celebrate National Heritage Week and is being organised by the Longford Heritage Office in partnership with the Newtowncashel Tidy Towns.

BALLYBORO SOCCER
Ballyboro soccer club caters for boys and girls ages from under 6 to under 16 in the Lanesboro,Ballyleague,Newtowncashel,Tarmonbarry,Scramogue,Killashee,Clondra areas. Registration of players for the new season will take place on this Friday evening 16th. from 6pm to 8pm at Lanesboro Community College.New players are especially welcome. Brilliant new facilities will be available for all players to enjoy from September. On Friday evening there will be a special preview on the progress being made at the new club Astro  pitch for all players and parents to see.

GAA
Due to inclement weather conditions, the Intermediate Championship Game, Cashel vs Sean Connollys was postponed last weekend.  Check fixtures for re-schedule
