DEATH
The people of Newtowncashel were  both shocked and saddened to hear of the sudden death of CISSY (Mary ) Farrell nee Flood , Carrowbeg, last weekend. Cissy was a kind,gentle and wonderful woman who was highly respected and loved within the community of Newtowncashel and indeed beyond.She was a wonderful,wife,mother,grandmother,neighbour etc...the list could go on,but suffice to say,you were always left feeling much better having met her. Her sudden passing will leave a great void in the lives of her family and  many friends
To her husband Paddy,daughters,Mary, Breda  Edel, Sr.Gabrielle ,Catherine,sons Michael, Gerry,Paddy Mel, Colm and Niall,brother Joe Flood  and all the rest of her family and many friends,we extend our deepest sympathies at this time of their great loss.
May her Soul Rest in Peace.

THE LOCAL
This Saturday night music by Brian Ross and a weekend full of Rugby Starting at 4pm, on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday.
Also cards night every Thursday night and Pool tournament on Wednesday nights ,with the first three matches this Wednesday night at 9 p.m.

DRAMA
Newtowncashel Drama Group welcomes the Acorn Players,from Mohill,Co.Leitrim to perform' The Two Loves of Gabriel Foley', a hilarious comedy in 3 Acts by Jimmy Keary to the Hill for one night only on Friday the 23rd of October at 8.30 p.m. Admission is €10.00 for adults and €5.00 for primary and secondary school students. Admission by ticket only. Call David on 086 8222655 for reservations.

CONGRATULATIONS
We extend congratulations to Monica Healy,who came second in the 'Shrubs and Tubs' and third pace in the 'Flowers' at the recent County Longford I.C.A. Garden Competition.We would also like to congratulate Pat Wilson who came third in the 'first time entry. Well done to both for their time and effort in the garden.

PARENT'S ASSOCIATION
The Newtowncashel Parent's Association Annual Fundraiser, will be held on Saturday the 24th of October at 9pm in The Local. It will be a Fancy Dress themed party ,which is optional,so do please come along,for what promises to be a fun night..Also,tickets are currently on sale for their Annual Draw.

CHILDLINE BREAKFAST
The Annual Cheerios Childline Breakfast will be held in The Hill this Tuesday the 13th of October from 7.30 am to 11,30 am.Your support would be greatly appreciated.All are welcome.Also,weather permitting,a 'walking school bus' will go from The Hill to the National School after breakfast time for school.

TIDY TOWNS
Congratulations to the Tidy Towns Committee on their great achievement and hard work which has paid off so well.A Silver Medal was achieved with marks of 314 attained,up 3 from 2014.  To read the full report click on the link here: 2015 Adjucation Report

I.C.A.
Newtowncashel I.C.A. monthly meeting will be held on Tuesday the 13th of October at 8.00 p.m. in The Hill. New members welcome as always

OPEN EVENING AND ENROLMENT
- Ardscoil Phadraig, Granard
Parents of sixth class students are invited to attend our Open Evening on Thursday 15th October 2015 from 7-9pm. Pupils and parents can view the excellent school facilities, meet students and staff and see the achievements, work and the success of our students first hand. Parents/guardians are invited to enrol their children in the school on the night.

OCTOBER MUDFEST
Sean Connolly's GAA Club in Ballinalee are running a mud fest to raise funds for the club. The race is a 6km run across country and will include obstacles along the way. There is a prize for the fastest men's and women's team of €1000 each and a prize of €500 for the fastest individual male and individual female. It will take place on Saturday 31st October. Entry is €25 per person or €200 for a team of ten.

BREAST CANCER:

THE LOCAL
There will be both Pool and Darts tournaments commencing in October,please contact Sile or Gary,either by Facebook ,or in the Pub itself,to take part. Ireland kick off their Rugby World Cup journey this Saturday at 2.30 p.m.Refreshments will be served,together with a chance to win a free pint. The All Ireland Football Final kicks off at 3.30 p.m. on Sunday,with Ocean's Eleven playing afterwards We now have a bonus ball draw running every week.Buy a line for €2.00 for a chance to win €94.00.

CASHEL ON IRISH T.V.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting.  It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.  To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.  If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at  087 2050589.  

SWIMMING LESSONS
