MONSTER AUCTION
Newtowncashel Community games are holding a Monster Auction at 1pm on Sunday 19th of April in the Hall in Newtowncashel. We will be using the funds raised to purchase much needed sports equipment in order for the children of the parish to be able to participate in Events and Activities.  Your support will be greatly appreciated and we hope you can help by donating something for sale on the day or purchasing a bargain.
We are looking for quality items such as Firewood, DIY and garden tools, Toys, Books, DVD’s, Paintings, Household Goods, Vouchers etc. to be auctioned on the day. All items considered.
We are also looking for Cakes, buns, jams, tarts etc. that can be sold separately.

IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION
The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. IRISH CANCER SOCIETY
The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again. NATURE WALK
The Newtowncashel Tidy Towns Annual Sponsored Walk, takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, the 4th of May. Sponsorship cards are available from committee members and the local shop.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. DARKNESS INTO LIGHT LONGFORD 2015
On 9th May next at 4.15am our Darkness into Light walk in aid of Pieta house takes place. The official launch of Longford's walk will take place on Easter Saturday in Tesco shopping centre from 11am to 3pm. Anyone who wishes can register with us on the day and receive their t-shirt. If you have already registered online you can pick up your t-shirt on Easter Saturday also. We will have representatives from a wide section of the community attending the launch as well as some local celebrities. Why not come along and join us and register to take part in what will be an unforgettable experience.

WALKING JOGGING
Walking / jogging groups - Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm from 'The Local'. Everybody welcome.

MINI MARATHON
Calling all ladies that would like to take part in the VHI mini marathon on June 1st to consider joining a local group of ladies walking / jogging in memory of baby Keela Geraghty. All funds raised will be given to the playground committee for the development of parish playground. Registration must be completed by Friday. Log on to www.vhiwomensminimarathon.ie to register. FINE GAEL
Newtowncashel Branch Fine Gael, held their A.G.M. on Monday night the 30th of March last.There was a large turnout present.Deputy James Bannon,who attended,gave a wide ranging report on matters of Local and National interest.James told the meeting that Taoiseach Enda Kenny was coming to Ballymahon to make an important announcement on the following Thursday.We all know now what that announcement was.So well done to all involved.It will be a great boost to the economy and Longford.
Councillors, Gerdie Farrell, Paul Ross and Colm Murray also attended the meeting and covered many matters of local intrest.
Commiserations were expressed to Sean Farrell who did'nt make it to the Council this time round. Some of his achievements while a Councillor were mentioned, including the extension of the Car Park at Cashel Cemetery and the Causeway to St.Island. Also,upkeep of roads.
Sean indicated to the meeting that he will be playing a full part in the General Election in a years time and is confident of a return to power of a Fine Gael Government.
At the end of the meeting ,a minutes silencewas observed for all those who had bereavements in the parish and surrounding area in the past year.

GYMBOREE
Gymboree is now in Longford.  A music and play session for children.  11.30-12.30 Tuesday 28th April in The Green Edgeworthstown.  8euro per child or 12euro for family.  Text Caroline 0876418083
