ST.PATRICK'S DAY
We would like to wish all the people from Newtowncashel,both at home and abroad,a very Happy St.Patrick's Day,and we hope you have a wonderful day on our Patron Saint's Day.



NEWTOWNCASHEL DRAMA
Newtowncashel Drama's production of the celebrated John.B.Keane's ,'The Field', has concluded, after a very successful run in The Hill,over the past few weeks.The demand for tickets was so much that a fifth night had to be staged on Sunday the 13th of March last.Proceeds of this show went to the Irish Cancer Society and the Patrick Mc Donagh fund. Each night,the production played to a packed house,to much acclaim.This was a huge effort from all involved and congratulations to all concerned.There were many starring roles ,both on and indeed off the stage and well done to all.

THE LOCAL.
This St.Patrick's Day ,Oceans Eleven wil play from 6.p.m  On Easter Saturday night,music is by Ita Tighe.

WALKING GROUP
The Walking Group continues on Saturday mornings leaving The Hill at 10.00 a.m. All are welcome.

CONFIRMATION
Congratulations to all the boys and girls from the parish who received the Sacrament of Confirmation last Saturday.
Afterwards all retired toThe Hill ,for refreshments,and we thank the Parent's Association for their kind help in this regard. The fine weather certainly added to the occasion and also a big thank you to the principal,Marie Fallon ,teachers and staff of St Mary's National School,on their excellent
work with the students

PARENT'S ASSOCIATION
The St.Mary's Parent's Association has donated 30 trees and rose bushes,which was won in the Irish Independent 'Trees for Communities'
competition,to St Mary's National School.
Thanks to the Parent's Association for this kind gesture.

VACANCY
St.Mary's National School is seeking a person to supply caretaking services at the school from April the 1st next,Duties include,grasscutting,sweeping and general maintenance around the school.Must supply their own mower/tractor and equipment.Applications in writing to the Chairperson B.O.M. St Mary's National School ,Newtowncashel on or before 3p.m. on March the 14th.

SEVEN TREES FOR SEVEN SIGNATORIES
The Dept. of Environment have informed Newtowncashel Tidy Towns that because they were once winners of the National Award that they have been chosen to receive seven oak trees to commemorate the seven signatories of the Irish Proclamation.
The only condition is that this site must be in Public Ownership, or a piece of private ground that can be transferred to Public Ownership.
An information plaque will be erected on the site.

CAIRDE BEG
Cairde Beag enrolment is now open for September 2016 and with the introduction of the second free preschool year, meaning a child can avail of free preschool from the age of 3 years, places are very limited.  If your child was born between 1st January 2012 and 31st August 2013 then your child is eligible for free preschool in September.  I have 2 spaces left so if you or someone that you know has a child who is eligible but has not already booked them in then please contact me as soon as possible on 0863175753.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday May the 8th at 12.00 noon.
