SCHOOL REUNION IN CASHEL.
Last weekend saw the celebration of St.Mary's National School's fifty years in existence,with a very successful and indeed enjoyable reunion of past pupils and a Horse Racing fundraising event.
On Friday the 11th of August,the school was open to the public ,for viewing of past school photographs,roll books,videos etc. The new school extension was also open for viewing.
On Saturday the 12th of August,the school was also open to the public,from 11.00 a.m. until 3 p.m.Then all retired to Kilbeggan Racecourse,for an evening of chat,fun and the odd flutter.This was a most enjoyable evening,where many from Cashel and indeed beyond,socialised for many hours,before coming back to a great evening in The Local,Newtowncashel.
Then on Sundayt he 13th of August,,there was a Mass in The Church of The Blessed Virgin,Newtowncashel ,at 12.00 p.m. for all people,both past and present ,who were and are,connected with the school.
Afterwards,all again retired to the school for refreshments and conversation.Credit to all concerned for this wonderful event,where many stories and memories were shared.It was great to see old friends,enjoying themselves,and thanks to everybody who helped out in any way.
The raffle for the Prize Draw was held in the Parade Ring,after the 8.30 Race in Kilbeggan by John Mahon,Race Sponsor and New York businessman.

NEWTOWNCASHEL COMMUNITY GAMES
Best of luck to all the competitors from Newtowncashel taking part in the National finals this weekend in the Nationals Sports Campus in Abbotstown.
Our very young U13 Choir are representing us first at 9:30am and they have put in a tremendous effort with rehearsals every week.
A big thank you goes to choir managers/mentors Molly and Noeline Fox. They have given up so much of their time every week and are so dedicated to the cause that hopefully it will all pay off next Saturday.
The Choir consists of the following kids, Keira Hopkins, Chloe Breslin, Jasmine Breslin, Roisin Healy, Saoirse Healy, Erin Donnelly, Ava McDonnagh, Amy Nolan, Rebecca Casey, Ciara Byrne, Alice Kenny.
At 11:30 on the track events we have Jack Sweeney taking part in the U14 Javelin, Jack has put in a hugh individual effort with training for the past few months and it’s not easy on your own.
Best of luck to Jack on Saturday and we know he will do us proud.
Last up on Saturday at 12 midday are our U12 group drama/Comedy Sketch. Again these kids and mentors have put in a hugh effort as they have being rehearsing since last January every week.
Thanks again to mentors Christy Hopkins and Barbara Martin for putting in so much effort and for giving up so much of their time.
The group drama children are Chloe Hopkins, Chris Martin, Grace Cullen, Lily Fox, Conor Murtagh and Brendan Mulvihill.
