MAY DAY WALK
The annual May Day walk takes place on Monday the 1st of May at 2:30pm from The Hill.
Children start at 2:30 pm from Derrydaragh.
There are a selection of prizes in the raffle on the day for everyone who takes part.

DEATH
We wish extend our sympathy, to Bridget Casey,Collum,on the death of her father John Molloy ,who passed away on Tuesday the 11th of April ,peacefully in his home in Spain.To Bridget and Kevin,John's wife Dorothy,sons Marcus and Matt and all John's relatives and friends ,we extend our deepest sympathies., Funeral and cremation service took place on Monday the 17th of April last. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

ST.MARY'S N.S.
St. Mary's N.S. will celebrate the last 50 years and the opening of the new extension with a reunion weekend and Fundraiser on the 11th, 12th, 13th August 2017. The main event,will be a Race Day,at the Kilbeggan evening race meeting on Saturday the 12th of August.Please keep this date in your diary.
Invitations and details have been sent to the "home" house of all past pupils in the Parish.  We request your assistance in forwarding invitations/details to people who no longer live in the Parish.  Alternatively, you may send their addresses/e-mail addresses to the following e-mail: stmaryscelebrate50years@gmail.com or contact the school secretary at 043-3325433 Also,there may be people who require accommodation in the parish over the weekend,so if anybody has any accommodation  available,do not hesitate to contact us.

RACE NIGHT
There will be a Race Night, in aid of those suffering from Motor Neurone Disease, in The Pier Inn, Lisnacusha, Lanesboro, this Saturday the 29th of April at 9.00 p.m. Dance away to the Disco which takes place after it.

I.C.A.
Newtowncashel ICA had its busy AGM this month and would like to thank the out going committee for all their hard work during their term. We would also like to congratulate the in-coming committee on their new positions and wish them well. We would like to extend our warmest welcome to our new members and are delighted to have them in our group. We would like to extend our congratulations to Legan Guild who represented Longford in the National Table Quiz in An Grianan. Our Pitch and Putt competition is coming up but we have lots of practice to do before that. Remember ICA has something for everyone from building friendships, to crafts, trips out and away so why not come along and see what we are all about.

GREAT IRISH BAKE
The organisers of the Great Irish Bake Cake Sale,which was held in the Hill last weekend, wish to thank all those who helped out,donated ,bought sold etc.for the event. The event was a huge success and all proceeds goes to Temple St.Children's Hospital.Special thanks to Finn's Centra Ballymahon,Super Valu,Lanesboro;Super Valu,Longford;, who donated the necessary ingredients for the Bake,and to Newtowncashel I.C.A. members who donated delicious cakes,buns etc.All was very much appreciated and there was not a single crumb left!

PARISH MISSION
Cashel Parish Mission will take place from Monday the 24th tob friday the 28th of April. John Pridmore,ex-gangster and international bestselling Author  of the book ,'From Gangland to Promised Land, will be sharing his amazing story in our local church on Monday night the 24th of April at 8 .00 p.m.
He has been interviewed on RTE,BBC ,ITV, TV3, UTV ,  American TV,Australian TV ,and numerous daily papers and radio shows. John has worked with people such as St.Teresa of Calcutta and was a friend of St.John Paul II.

G.A.A. LOTTO

POETRY WORKSHOP – MARIA EDGEWORTH LITERARY FESTIVAL 5TH-7TH MAY 2017
As part of the Maria Edgeworth Literary Festival 5th-7th May 2017, a Poetry Workshop will take place on Saturday 6th May 2017 in The Old Schoolhouse, Ballymahon Road, Edgeworthstown, Co. TOURISM WITH BUSINESS CERTIFICATE
Looking for a career focused course? Then enrol on Longford College of Further Education’s 1 year Tourism with Business programme starting September 2016. Ireland is going through a tourism regeneration with employment potential from Center Parcs and from initiatives such as The Wild Atlantic Way, The Greenway Cycle Project and Ireland’s Ancient East project. The course offers practical business skills for the workplace as well as accreditation from Quality Qualifications Ireland and awards up to 400 CAO points for progression to third level institutions. This course is free to those in receipt of BTEA or who qualify for a SUSI grant* and to holders of a medical card. The registration fee and government levy is €330 for all other students. MACRA
Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.
To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.
