CHRISTMAS RUN
The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is now in it's 28th year. Over the years it has raised much needed funds for Longford MS and we are again asking for your continued support this year. Walkers start from the Hill at 11.45 and runners at 12.15. Refreshments will be available in the Hall in Lanesborough afterwards and all participants receive a running tshirt sponsored by Peter Hanley Motors. WELL DONE
The local Fianna Fáil Cumann,wish to congratulate,John Kenny,Barley Harbour,on his selection to contest the Local Elections next May,as a Fianna Fáil candidate for Newtowncashel and the Ballymahon Area.He was ratified at Convention which was held in Cooney's Hotel Ballymahon,last Friday the 14th of December.
TIDY TOWNS AWARD
Our village was among the awards winners in Abbeyshrule last week.Competing against nearly all the counties of Leinster,we won the bronze medal. We thank all who maide this possible.
CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
The Tidy Towns thank The Cashel Lights Group, on lighting up the Village for Christmas.With Cashel on a hill,the coloured lighting can be seen from a sistance of ten miles away,sending greetings to all the surrounding countryside.

FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid.
