BOIL WATER NOTICE
Irish Water and Longford County Council wish to advise all customers on the Cashel Public Water Supply that the boil water notice has been lifted. Normal use may now resume.

TEA EVENING
An Alzheimer Tea Evening will be held in The Local Newtowncashel,this friday the 22nd of May.Tea and Goodies from 6.00 p.m. to 9.00 p.m..Your support would be appreciated.

THE MAY WALK
The Tidy Town wish to thank all who made the Bank Holidaywalk a great success.The children and parents who took part in the walk.The water stations along the route.The safety of the children along the roads.All who prepared the refreshments.The sponsored prizes for the raffle.Dr Catherine Farrell of Bord na Mona who gave a lecture on the wildlife around Lough Slawn and the organisers of the football match for the children.

FINE GAEL
The local Fine Gael organisation wish to thank all those who contributed and supported the recent Churchgate Collection.

FIANNA FAIL
The local Fianna Fail Cumann,wish to thank all those who kindly contributed and supported thei Churchgate Collection last weekend.

PARENTS ASSOCIATION
The Parents Association are having their fundraising Table Quiz on Saturday 13th June in The Peer Inn at 9pm... Table of four €40... There will be a raffle and plenty of spot prizes on the night!! Anyone wishing to donate spot prizes for the night can do so by bringing them along on the night or by giving to any committee member.

PLAYGROUND COMMITTEE
Newtowncashel Playground Committee hold a Tug-of-War fundraiser on the 24th of May at 2.30 p.m. in the Village.Teams of 5 with €50.00 entry fee.Those who feel up to the challenge may register by contacting Damien Geraghty, before the 21st of May, at 087 8235070. Ladies and Men's teams are welcome. There will be a Bar-B- Que on the day and Live music in The Local from 6.00 p.m. onwards.

IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION
The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. IRISH CANCER SOCIETY
The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again. CAKE SALE
21 Cashel ladies will participate in this years Mini Marathon on June 1st. The ladies will run/ walk in memory of baby Keela Geraghty and they will raise funds for the development of the playground in Cashel. To aid their fundraising they will hold a Cake Sale and Raffle on the weekend of the marathon after masses on May 30th and 31st. NEWTOWNCASHEL I.C.A.
Our monthly meeting on Tuesday the 5th of May last was a well attended meeting and the first meeting under our new president, Breege Kenny. We have our new committee elected and we wish them all the best in their new positions for the coming term.For the outgoing committee,we thank them for all their hard work throughout their term.We had a lovely evening,with our guest speaker,Lorraine from Oriflame,and we would like to thank her for taking time out from her busy schedeule,to give us a demonstration,for all her help,advice and tips,no doubt they will be all taking on board.Our next meeting will be held in The Hill on Tuesday the 2nd of June at 8.00 p.m.This will be our last meeting before we break for the Summer months.New members welcome as always.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. WALKING JOGGING
Walking / jogging groups - Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm from 'The Local'. Everybody welcome.

MINI MARATHON
Calling all ladies that would like to take part in the VHI mini marathon on June 1st to consider joining a local group of ladies walking / jogging in memory of baby Keela Geraghty. All funds raised will be given to the playground committee for the development of parish playground. Registration must be completed by Friday. Log on to www.vhiwomensminimarathon.ie to register. CASHEL P.T.A.A.
The Annual Pioneer Outing takes place on Wednesday the 15th of July,destination Dublin.Details are as follows.Depart from The Hill.Further pickups en route. 9.30 a.m. Restroom break at the Applegreen M4 Service Station 10.30 a.m. Tea/Coffee and scones at Glasnevin Cemetery including the O'Connell crypt and tower,the graves of Michael Collins and Constance Markievicz.This is a particularly interesting visit as we approach the centenary of 1916. 12.00  noon.Guided tour of the National Botanical Gardens. 1.00 p.m. Opportunity for lunch at the gardens restaurant. 2.00 p.m. Board coach for the National Museum of Ireland,Kildare St. This is a self-guided visit with amazing exhibits on view. 4.30 p.m.Free time at the Liffey Valley shopping centre. Option of dinner in Dublin before departure,or on the homeward journey. The cost is €40.00,payable when booking.The charge includes,coach hire,driver/guide,morning coffee, and admission to to designated places of interest.It does not include lunch and dinner which are at the discretion of individuals. CREDIT UNION SCHOLARSHIP
The Student Scholarship,sponsored by Ballymahon and District Credit Union is operational again this year. It is open to all Leaving Cert students attending the Vocational and Mercy Secondary Schools. The student must be completing a FÁS Apprenticeship, full time Certificate, Diploma or Degree course at any University, IT or approved third level college. All students who wish to enter the draw, must be a member of the Credit Union before the 31st of May 2015.The recipient of the Scholarship will receive €1000.00 per annum for a maximum of three years.

ST BRIGIDS GAA
