CHRISTMAS WISHES
We take this opportunity to wish all those from the Parish of Cashel,either at home or indeed abroad,a very Happy and Peaceful Christmas.We welcome home all those that have returned to the parish ,and we also are thinking of those that have lost loved ones over the past year .We hope it's a time where you can relax with family and friends and of course we hope that Santa looks favourably upon you all ...Happy Christmas.

CHRISTMAS DAY RUN
It's that time of year again when preparations are beginning for the Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland. This is the 25th year of the event and over the course of that time approximately €180,000 has been raised for Longford MS. Last year 175 people took part and we're again asking for your continued support this year and hopefully we'll be able to further increase the number of participants and sponsorship for what is a very worthy cause. Sponsorship cards will be available in the coming weeks and for further details and please contact Michael Flood (Tel: 086-0880855).

END OF YEAR
The Tidy Towns wish to thank all who helped keep the village up to a high standard throughout the year.
Also the FAS workers for their great work and a farewell to John Grace who has retired after serving the village well over the years.
We also wish to thank Enda O Shea who arranged and supervised the building of the beautiful wall along the Quarry road and to John Smith from Corool and John Casey Lanesborough for the stones for the wall.

BEST WISHES
On behalf of the whole parish of Newtowncashel,we extend extend best wishes to Martin Skelly who recently put his name forward for election to the prestigous position of president of the G.A.A. Martin is a more than worthy candidate and we eagerly await the election.To have a son of Cashel achieve such lofty heights would do us all proud.

ROSARY
The Recitition of the Rosary will continue on Friday the 1st of January at 7.30 p.m.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting.  It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.  To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.  If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at  087 2050589.
