PASTORAL COUNCIL
There will be a Parish Pastoral Council meeting in The Hill this Wednesday the 25th of November at 8.00 p.m.

TABLE QUIZ
There will be a Table Quiz in Gav's Bar, Kenagh  this Friday night the 27th of November at 9.00 p.m.All proceeds eil go to Saint Luke's Hospital,Dublin. Tables of four is forty euro.There will be a raffle on the night and refreshments will be served.For further information,please contact Dennis at 086 3461734.

Lanesboro/Ballyleague Badminton Club
Its that time of year to dust off the quiz books and get ready for our Table Quiz. Promised to be a great night with lots of spot prizes, just in time before Christmas. Our Quiz will be held on the 28th of November in Clarke's Bar in Lanesboro at 9:30pm, so get a team or two together and come on down and enjoy the night.

CHRISTMAS DAY RUN
It's that time of year again when preparations are beginning for the Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland. This is the 25th year of the event and over the course of that time approximately €180,000 has been raised for Longford MS. Last year 175 people took part and we're again asking for your continued support this year and hopefully we'll be able to further increase the number of participants and sponsorship for what is a very worthy cause. Sponsorship cards will be available in the coming weeks and for further details and please contact Michael Flood (Tel: 086-0880855).

JUNIOR CHOIR
There will be a Junior Choir rehearsal this Saturday evening the 28th of November in the Church at 5.00 p.m.

DO THIS IN MEMORY
The next Do This In Memory Mass for all parents and guardians and children preparing for First Holy Communion,takes place this Sunday the 29th of November at 10.30 a.m. Mass.

Concern Christmas Fast
The Annual  Concern Christmas fast and Church Gate Collection takes place on December 5th and 6th  in the village. Your support would be greatfully appreciated

G.A.A.
The A.G.M. of Cashel G.A.A. Club takes place in the Clubhouse on Saturday the 12th of December at 5.00 p.m.

INSCRIPTION STONES
The Tidy Towns judges in their adjudication report mentioned the many inscription stones built into and on walls around the village for people who made contributions to the village.
The following are some of the stone:
The Gleason Conor Family, Long island and Aughavadden 1883.
Patrick Eustace who taught here for many years.
John Nankivell whose beautiful map of the village is a work of art.
A stone dating the start of the Tidy Towns in 1977.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern on his visit to the village.
The inscription on the inside wall of the Tom Ashe with the initials P.B. T.R. P.E. 1943
The Hill 1969.
The gable of the Tom Ashe “ Erected in memory of Thomas Ashe” 1917
A plaque in memory of poet John Keegan Casey
A grave stone in Casey’s field near the school.
There was a land league stone with the date 1879 built into a wall in the early 1980’s, if anyone knows its location please let us know.
A stone remembering Johnny Ganly who built nearly all the walls in the village will go in next year.

FAS WORKER
A vacancy for a FAS worker exists in Newtowncashel.

CASHEL ON IRISH T.V.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting.  It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.  To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.  If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at  087 2050589.
