FAREWELL TO FR BRADY
On Saturday night last our parish held a ‘Farewell Celebration’ for our Parish Priest, Fr. Brady. This night began with a ‘Mass of Thanksgiving’. The Church was packed with people from all over the parish and beyond coming together to wish Fr. Brady well. The Pastoral Council sincerely thank all who made the Mass very special; Servers, Choirs, Readers, and all the people who took part in the different processions. Sincere thanks to all who cleaned inside and outside the Church, making sure it looked its best

PATTERN DAY
Pattern Day will be celebrated at Lady Well, Derrydarragh,on Saturday the 5th of September. Mass follows recitation of The Rosary at 6.00 p.m.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival and Field Day schedeuled for last Sunday the 23rd of August was cancelled due to the forecast of adverse weather. In lieu of the Festival and Field Day,a fundraising night will be held in Gav's Bar,Kenagh on Saturday the 5th of September. Barbeque and Pig on a spit .Music with waltxing and jiving competitions. Proceeds in aid of St.Christopher's.

BROADBAND COMPETITION.
Following another successful meeting last week,we continue with another meeting,this Thursday evening the 27th of August in The Hill at 8.30 p.m. The purpose of these meetings is to put together a submission to Eircom,for their competition to supply a community or parish with broadband which is worth €250,000.00 of an investment.If you are interested in contributing in any way,please do come along.

COMMUNITY GAMES
Newtowncashel Community Games AGM will take place on Tuesday the 1st of September at 8pm in Gaa club house.
Please forward Nominations for positions on the committee as soon as possible.

GAA
Best of luck to the Cashel Gaelic Football Team,who play near neighbours Rathcline ,this Saturday evening at 5.45 p,m,, in the County Semi-Final at Glennon Bros Pearse Park. Please support the team,as they seek to reach the County Final.

CYCLING GROUP.
Meet every Tuesday and Friday evening at 7:00 pm at "The Hill".
Routes and distances to cater for all cyclists. Helmets compulsory.

CEMETERY SUNDAYS.
The following are this year's Cemetery Sunday's dates;
Cashel Cemetery; 30th of August.
Mass and prayers for the dead at 6.00 p.m.
These Masses will replace the 10.30 a.m. Mass in the Church.
Drivers are asked to leave the parking areas in the immediate vicinity of the cemeteries free for cars transporting persons of diminished or limited mobility. All are requested to co-operate with the stewards at Cashel Cemetery and avoid causing an obstruction.The driveway into the cemetery should be used for set-down only,not for parking.
Plot holders are urged to look after the resting places of their departed.

KNOCK
The Diocesan Pilfrimage to Knock takes place on Sunday the 6th of September. The bus leaves from The Hill at 10.00 a.m. Tickets are €16.00 each,available at Kenny's Foodstore ,The Village..
Confessiona at 12.30 p.m. ,Anointing of the sick at 2.30 p.m. , Mass and Eucharistic Blessing of the Sick with Benediction an 3.00 p.m. followed by Rosary Procession.

CASHEL ON IRISH T.V.

BUS SERVICE
Anthony O Hare Travel,Ballymahon, wishes to advise that if there is sufficient numbers, a bus service to and from Ballymahon,every Wednesday will be available.Depart Cashel at 9.30 a.m. and depart Ballymahon back to Cashel at 2.00 p.m. Please contact Anthony at 087 9004876. This service will commence immediately.

WALKING JOGGING
Walking / jogging groups - Every Tuesday and Thursday nights at 9 pm from 'The Local'. Everybody welcome.

IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION
The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. IRISH CANCER SOCIETY
The Irish Cancer Society’s Care to Drive service is currently seeking volunteer drivers to drive local patients to and from their chemotherapy treatments. We are looking for volunteers to pick patients up at their homes, drive them to the door of the hospital, pick them up when they are finished their treatment and bring them home again. LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting.  It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.  To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.  If you are interested contact Maeve Madden, VTOS Co-ordinator at  087 2050589.
