MIDLAND RALLY IN CASHEL
There was great excitement in the Newtowncashel area as The Midland Moto stages Rally took  place last  Sunday 24th  March.This years rally was  the 2nd round of the Triton National Rally championship as well as the 2nd round of the Midlands East championship and is the 1 st round of the Sligo Pallets Border championship so there was  competitors from all over the country as well as UK,Scotland,Wales and the USA.Our thanks to Longford Co Council,the residents on the route and all volunteers who helped  to run this event .The Rally  passed  through areas of Lisrevagh,Thureen,Lisnacusha,Newpark,Clonmee,Greenhall,Lightfied and Caltra

Special word to  local man Cyril Rollins, who as Chairman of the Midland Motor club,oversaw a very professionally run event which really brought added life to our area last weekend.

ALL IRELAND FINAL
Best wishes  Mercy Secondary School and Ciara Healy  as they play the All Ireland PPS Final next Saturday at 1, venueTBC...they play Middleton of Cork in the final..   

Southern Gaels Minor Club:
Registration Day for 2019 membership for all under-age groups will take place this Sunday March 31st in Cashel Clubhouse from 11.30am to 12.30pm. Membership fee is €20 for one child and €30 for a family.

Eigse Peter Carberry. A special event to celebrate the life and music of the late Pete Carberry of Derahaun will be held in Lanesboro over the weekend 12th to 14th April. Pete was a noted uilleann piper who performed and recorded traditional Irish music in a career spanning several decades. The weekend's events will include music classes, lecture, recitals and a concert of traditional Irish music and song. A full programme of events will be published next week. ELECTION LAUNCH
Local Election candidate John Kenny holds his campaign  launch in The Local, Newtowncashel , on Friday night the 5th of April. Music and refreshments on the night and all are welcome.

I.C.A.
Our next meeting will take place on April 2nd at 8pm in The Hill. This will be our AGM, all members are asked to attend.  Well done to Brid Sweeney, Catherine Gallagher and Breege Kenny who represented Longford in An Grianan at the weekend at the national quiz. FIBRE BROADBAND LIVE IN NEWTOWNCASHEL
Fibre Technology has been laid along these routes at the end of 2018 and is now live to 200 homes/businesses marked on the map. For approximately 90-95% of these premises fibre will be delivered directly into the home enabling speeds of up to 1000Mb/s (1Gb/s), with 5-10% of premises served with superfast broadband of up to 100Mb/s.

FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid. MACRA
Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.
