CASHEL GAA GOLDEN JUBILEE
Cashel GAA Club are hosting 1968 Golden Jubilee Celebration of Intermediate,Minor and Juvenile winning teams,on Saturday thr 1st of December in the Pier Inn,Lisnacusha,at 8.30 pm. The evening will begin with a Special mass in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary at 7 p.m. Music and Spot Prizes on the night.M.C. is  R.T.E. Midlands correspondent,Ciarán Mullooly. A great night is assured

CHRISTMAS LIGHTS
Another successful meeting was held in The Local,last Sunday the 25th of November.As you can imagine,substantial funding is required for the project,up towards €2k this year alone,,so a Credit Union a/c and a gofundme page has been set up.The lights committee appeals to all Community Groups from Cashel, together with other Cashel ,and beyond patrons ,to donate towards the lights project,which will be ongoing.  This year we will have limited lights together with a large Village Christmas Tree,which will be switched on ,on December the 9th.All small donations are accepted,and no donation is too small.Please contact any of the following;John Kenny,Liam Finnegan,Debbie Bawle, Grainne O Shea/Moynihan. Tomas O Shea,Tommie Hassett,Diarmuid Walsh,Mick Casey,Anita Finnegan,Sile Mulvihill,Helen Hassett, Next meeting is Sunday the 2nd of December in The Local at 6pm  All welcome.

CHRISTMAS EVENTS
St.Mary's National School Parent's Association hold a Santa 5k Fun Run/Walk on Sunday the 9th of December starting from The Hill at 2 pm.The route is down the Village,past the GAA pitch,Quarry and down to Claras crossroads and back.Entry fee is €20 per family,€10 Euro per adult,and €5 per individual child.All proceeds go towards the Parent's Association. Refreshments served on the day.
Then afterwards,Santa arrives to The Local ,approx 3.30 pm,where great fun will be had.
Then finally,the Village Christmas Tree and Lights will be turned on,heralding a real Christmas feel to our Parish for the Holiday season

CASHEL DRAMA
A big thank you to all who attended our recent production of 'The Beauty Queen of Leenane.' On this,our centenary year,the group was particularly delighted with the positive response from all local patrons and sponsors. Heres to many more years of top class local drama in Newtowncashel.

DRAMA
The following is a letter ,i received ,on behalf of the recent production from Newtowncashel Drama.
Dear correspondent,allow me to express our gratitude to your local drama group,for a wonderful night's entertainment with the play'The Beauty Queen of Leenane. Afew years ago,i was part of a group,who read this play twice.and then felt it was too challenging to do it,but now,having seen this outstanding performance,i hope it will give others courage. The standing ovation at the end was spontaneous,not one or two standing and the rest obliged to stand. Thank you again for a remarkable performance,May Farrelly.

NEW ARRIVAL
We extend congratulations to Clare and Tomas O Shea ,on the birth of their baby Tomas Owen,who was was born recently.

FIRESIDE TALES
The latest edition of Fireside tales,edited by Jude Flynn is on sale at the moment in O'Briens in Lanesborough, and would make an ideal Christmas present.

SOUTHERN GAELS
Southern Gaels hold their AGM in Killashee Clubhouse on Friday December the 7th at 8pm. They need a lot of parents to help out with many small jobs,so please do come along and join up.

CONCERN FAST
The Concern annual fast and Church gate collection takes place on Dec 8th and 9th. Once again your support would be appreciated. Volunteers would be appreciated

ICA
Our monthly ICA meeting takes place on Monday 3rd December at 7:30pm in The Hill. Louise will be joining us with her pop up shop. Where we can make a start on our Christmas shopping or maybe just a treat for ourselves. Hopefully everyone has recovered from our fabulous meal at PS Red over the weekend.

DEATH
We extend our deepest sympathies to Carmel Donlon,Derryhaun,on the death of her sister,Bridget Mc Namee ,from Newry,Co.Down,who died recently.Bridget was married to Martin,and they had two children,Patricia and Diarmuid. May her Soul Rest in Peace.

G.A.A. AGM
The AGM of Cashel GAA Club will be held in the Clubhouse on Saturday the 8th of December at 5pm
The club needs new people for our lotto roster.At the moment,it entails doing the draw five times a year. Please contact any executive member if you can help out.

FIBRE BROADBAND AT LAST FOR NEWTOWNCASHEL
Fibre Technology will be laid along these routes by the end of 2018 and delivered to 200 homes/businesses marked on the map. For approximately 90-95% of these premises fibre will be delivered directly into the home enabling speeds of up to 1000Mb/s (1Gb/s), with 5-10% of premises served with superfast broadband of up to 100Mb/s.

FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid. Patients wishing to avail of this free service should contact their healthcare professional, visit the Society’s website at irishcancer.ie or contact the Irish Cancer Society for more information on 01 2310 522.

MACRA
Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.

The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.
To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.
