NEWTOWNCASHEL DRAMA STAGE 'THE FIELD'
Newtowncashel Drama Group are delighted to announce that this year's production will be 'The Field',a highly acclaimed masterpiece by playwright  John. B. Keane. The play will be staged on the first weekend of the of March,Friday the 4th,Saturday the 5th and Sunday the 6th.There will also be a performance on Friday the 11th of March.,These performances are twenty eight years on from it's first staging in 'The Hill with some of the original cast taking roles in this year's production..Further details to follow over the coming weeks.

I.C.A.
Congratulations to our very own member Catherine Gallagher on her win at the federation meeting held on Wednesday last 24th of February in Street. Catherine won the Gem Bakery Competition with her Semnel Cake.She will now go to An Grianan to represent Longford in the Gem Baking Competition.Congratulations also to our quiz team Catherine Gallagher, Breege Kenny and Katie Kenny who won the ICA table quiz held on the 16th of February in Killashee and retain their title two years running..They will also be representing longford in An Grianan.Good look ladies.

MIDLAND MOTO CLUB
A launch evening for the Midland Motorclub Moto Stages Rally takes place in the Longford Arms Hotel on Thursday 10th March at 8pm.  All welcome.

COMMUNITY GAMES
Well done to our three winners in the Community Games County Art Competition last weekend.These were Lily Murray,Harry Murray and Luke Mulvihill.

CONFIRMATION
Confirmation will be celebrated on Saturday the 12th of March at 11.00 a.m.

FIRST HOLY COMMUNION
First Holy Communion will be celebrated on Sunday May the 8th at 12.00 noon.

QUIZ
The joint clubs of Southern Gaels and Ballymahon hold a fundraising Quiz,this Friday night the 4th of March in Cooney's Hotel at 8.30 p.m.  Tables of Four is €40.00..Your support would be appreciated.Please note change of date.

SEVEN TREES FOR SEVEN SIGNATORIES
The Dept. of Environment have informed Newtowncashel Tidy Towns that because they were once winners of the National Award that they have been chosen to receive seven oak trees to commemorate the seven signatories of the Irish Proclamation.
The only condition is that this site must be in Public Ownership, or a piece of private ground that can be transferred to Public Ownership.
An information plaque will be erected on the site.

P.T.A.A. QUIZ
The Longford Region of the P.T.A.A U-13 and U-16 quiz,will be held in the Temperance Hall,Longford at 8 p.m. on Friday the 4th of March.Teams of four confined to Pioneers only,who must wear their pins as proof of membership.The age limit is U-13 and U-16 on January the 1st last.If numbers permit,your school may enter a maximum of two teams.The winners go forward to the Leinster Finals on March the 20th.

CAIRDE BEG
Cairde Beag enrolment is now open for September 2016 and with the introduction of the second free preschool year, meaning a child can avail of free preschool from the age of 3 years, places are very limited.  If your child was born between 1st January 2012 and 31st August 2013 then your child is eligible for free preschool in September.  I have 2 spaces left so if you or someone that you know has a child who is eligible but has not already booked them in then please contact me as soon as possible on 0863175753.
