NEW VILLAGE FOUNTAIN
The Tidy Towns in conjunction with Longford County Council are building a beautiful new fountain in the village.
Newtowncashel was chosen and funding will come under the category of the Village Renewal Scheme.
It is for villages that have lost so much over the last 20 years.
It will be on a site located opposite the church and The Local and in time will become a focal point for religious and social events.
Overlooking a large part of the parish and further out to three counties.
It is hoped it will be completed this summer.

The Ballyboro Soccer Club are having an Oskars night this June and the Newtowncashel coontingent held a fundraising Mr and Mrs competition in The Local last Easter Sunday night. Local couples took part and a great t night's entertainmentwas was had ..There will be a Table Quiz in Leavy's Foigha on May 11th to comtinye the fundraising drive.

FREE TRANSPORT
The Irish Cancer Society operates a free transport service for patients attending hospital for chemotherapy treatment. Volunteer Drivers pick the patient up at the door of their home, drop them at the hospital door, then when finished treatment, will pick them up and drop them home. Volunteer expenses are paid.
