LOCAL PUB OPENING
Having been closed for two years,the village pub finally re-opened on Tuesday the 31st of March,under the ownership of Gary and Síle Mulvihill.
The properietors thank the local community for their support and good wishes over the past few weeks and look forward to meeting all in 'The Local'
The two year closure has given the people of Cashel long enough to comprehend the absence of this vital element of village fabric.Gary and Sile have taken the initiative.It is now up to us the community of Cashel and wider,to reciprocate.
There will be live music this Saturday night the 4th of April by The Dollar Daly,and on Sunday night the 5th by Albatross.
We wholeheartedly wish Gary and Sile the very best in their new venture.

IRISH HOSPICE FOUNDATION
The Irish Hospice Foundation is now seeking to appoint experienced, energetic people to raise funds in the local area through a variety of fundraising activities canvassing for donors who are willing to support its work through regular monthly payments. These positions are self-employed long term. Excellent communication skills are essential for this role which will involve a variety of fundraising activities. Full training will be provided. MONSTER AUCTION
Newtowncashel Community games are holding a Monster Auction at 1pm on Sunday 19th of April in the Hall in Newtowncashel. We will be using the funds raised to purchase much needed sports equipment in order for the children of the parish to be able to participate in Events and Activities.  Your support will be greatly appreciated and we hope you can help by donating something for sale on the day or purchasing a bargain.
We are looking for quality items such as Firewood, DIY and garden tools, Toys, Books, DVD’s, Paintings, Household Goods, Vouchers etc. to be auctioned on the day. All items considered.
We are also looking for Cakes, buns, jams, tarts etc. that can be sold separately.

HARVEST FESTIVAL
The Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday the 23rd of August, commencing at 12.00 noon. This will be the festival's third consecutive visit to Newtowncashel, thanks to the availability and suitability of the site and the success of the event on the two previous occasions. DARKNESS INTO LIGHT LONGFORD 2015
On 9th May next at 4.15am our Darkness into Light walk in aid of Pieta house takes place. The official launch of Longford's walk will take place on Easter Saturday in Tesco shopping centre from 11am to 3pm. Anyone who wishes can register with us on the day and receive their t-shirt. If you have already registered online you can pick up your t-shirt on Easter Saturday also. We will have representatives from a wide section of the community attending the launch as well as some local celebrities. Why not come along and join us and register to take part in what will be an unforgettable experience.

MS CHURCHGATE COLLECTION
There will be a church gate collection for MS Longford on Sat/ Sun  the 4/5 April 2015.

WEDDING
We extend congratulations to both Tomás Ó Shea and Clare Balfe,who were married last Friday the 27th of March.

HOLY WEEK CEREMONIES
HOLY THURSDAY,Mass of the Lord's Last Supper at 8.00 p.m. followed by procession to the Altar of Repose.Adoration in the South Transept(Women's Cross-house) until midnight.-all who are free are invited to spend time in adoration.
The children for First Holy Communnion and their parents will be among those participating in The Liturgy on Holy Thursday as part of their involvement in the 'Do this in Memory' programme.

GOOD FRIDAY
Good Friday is a day of Fast and Abstinence.Celebration of the Lord's Passion at 3.00 p.m. Stations of the Cross at 8.00 p.m.
HOLY SATURDAY;-9.00 P.M. ,Lighting of The Paschal Fire followed by the Easter Vigil.Non-drip candles will be available.
EASTER SUNDAY;Celebration of the Resurrection at 10.30 a.m.

JUNIOR CHOIR
A Junior Choir practice will be held in the Church on Good Friday following the 3.00 p.m. ceremonies.All members are asked to be present.The practice will conclude at 5.00 p.m..

PIONEER QUIZ SUCCESS
Well done to the Junior Pioneer quiz team from St Mary's NS, Newtowncashel who qualified for the All Ireland PTAA quiz final in Cavan on 25th April. They finished second to Killoe in the Leinster final in Mountmellick, Co.Laois  by just a single point !The team consisted of Cathy Kelly, Mark Brehon, Luke Mulvihill, David Sweeney and Harry Murray. They  wish to thank the Newtowncashel PTAA for sponsoring refreshments for the team.

I.C.A.
Congratulations to the three Newtowncashel ICA members who competed in the All Ireland ICA Quiz on Saturday 28th March in An Grianan. Waterford were the overall winners.
