BONFIRE NIGHT.
The Tidy Towns are reviving Bonfire night. It will take place on Saturday the 18th of June in the Quarry Park. The Nature walk around Lough Slawn will take place at 7:00 pm.  A great nights programme has been put together. Hans the story teller will arrive in his pony and trap. The famous psychic John King will be in attendance. There will be bouncing castles, party games, The Burgerman and a Licenced Bar by The Local.
A date to remember and a night you won't forget.

MASS.
Please note that,that on Saturday June the 18th,Vigil Mass,will be celebrated at 6.00 p.m. ,in the Church,to facilitate the Bonfire night in the Quarry Park.

DEATH
The death occurred of Matt Skelly,Caltramore,on Monday the 23rd of May last.
Matt was pre-deceased by his late wife Mary and son Bernard.Matt was one of life's true gentlemen and his passing will leave a great void in the lives of all those who knew him.He always had a smile and kind word for those who he met and his large funeral was testimony to the man's popularity.
We extend our deepest sympathies to his loving family Margaret, Sean, Ger, Bernadette, Harry, Patricia and Josephine, his sister Kathleen, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, grandchildren, sisters-in-law Sr.Paula and Sr.Carmel Brennan, nieces, nephews, neighbours and friends. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

Community Games.
Congratulations to Newtowncashel U11 tag rugby team who won the quarter final of the Leinster competition on Sunday last and now go forward to Leinster semi-finals in Carlow on the 2nd of July. It was a great achievement and thanks to Peter O’Boyle and Declan Murtagh for mentoring and coaching the kids.
Team on duty was Lily Fox, Grace Cullen, Chloe Hopkins, Oran Killian, Rian O’Boyle, Chris Martin, Dean Farrell, Conor Murtagh and Emmet Murtagh.
The will be joined in Carlow with the U16 Draughts team who had already qualified.
Hard luck to the U16 table tennis team and U13 basketball team who were narrowly defeated in the quarter finals.
Thanks to all involved.
County field and track events this Sunday in Ballymahon so best of luck to all in Cashel taking part.

DEATH
The death occurred of Nan Creed Foynescourt,Longford Town and formerly of Ballagh Newtowncashel,on Saturday the 21st of May last.Nan was pre-deceased by her late husband John,the ever popular publican.Together with John,they operated a public house and grocery in Cashel for many years,and her popularity was immense,as she was such a lady to everybody she encountered.She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
We extend our deepest sympathies to her loving family, daughter Anne, son-in-law Alan (Maxwell), her cherished grandson Conn, sister, brother-in-law, nephews, niece, cousins, loyal neighbours and friends.May her Soul Rest in Peace.

G.A.A.
Well done to the local G.A.A. Club on the wonderful Lá na gClubanna celebrations,last Saturday the 28th of May.Special guest was Croke Park Stadium Director,Peter Mc Kenna and well done to the committee for organising such an event.The book,'125 Years of Cashel G.A.A.' by Jimmy Casey N.T. was launched,and this is an excellent publication,which is still on sale.Please contact any member of the club for details.

WALKING GROUP
The Walking Group continues on Saturday mornings leaving The Hill at 10.00 a.m. All are welcome.

TRIP
A trip to the Fr.Patrick Peyton Memorial  Centre ,Atytymass,Co.Mayo  will take place on Tuesday the 26th of July 2016.  The cost is €30  including refreshments,lunch and entertainment, Coach departs Kenagh at 9.00 a.m.,returning at 6.00 p.m. approx..To secure a place,please contact Rose Egan,kenagh,by post including contact details and payment.

RAFFLE
Ballymahon friends of Crumlin hold a raffle in aid of Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin,on Saturday night the 11th of June,in Kiernan's Pub, Ballymahon. Prizes include,30 minute aerobatic experience,vouchers,hampers etc.Tickets are €5.00 each or 3 for €10.00. Music by Night Owls.  Draw takes place at 10.30 p.m. Your support is very much appreciated.

LONGFORD VTOS
The Longford VTOS programme is now recruiting. It offers full time business and computer training free of charge.
To qualify you must be over 21 and in receipt of a social welfare payment.

CAIRDE BEG
Cairde Beag enrolment is now open for September 2016 and with the introduction of the second free preschool year, meaning a child can avail of free preschool from the age of 3 years, places are very limited.  If your child was born between 1st January 2012 and 31st August 2013 then your child is eligible for free preschool in September.  I have 2 spaces left so if you or someone that you know has a child who is eligible but has not already booked them in then please contact me as soon as possible on 0863175753.
