FANCY DRESS
The St.Mary's National School Parent's Association hold their annual Halloween Fancy Dress Fundraiser,this Saturday night the 29th of October ,in The Local,Newtowncashel. This event promises to be great fun and the Draw for all the great prizes on offer ,also takes place on the night.Tickets are still on sale for this draw,so please support.

LESSER SPOTTED JOURNEY'S IN LONGFORD
Joe Mahon travels to Ballymahon in Co Longford, where he discovers some of the amazing things that can be found in the bog, including a 2,000-year-old trackway, a narrow-gauge railway line and bogwood that is transformed into beautiful sculptures.

COMMUNITY GAMES
Newtowncashel Community Games committee would like to thank everyone in the parish that purchased tickets recently for the National draw and also thanks to everyone for their hospitality shown to the sellers when calling to the doors. There is still some time left if anyone would like to purchase a ticket by contacting a committee member. Best of luck to everyone in the draw.
Also,congratulations to Newtowncashel Community Games who won the County small Areas award for 2016. They now go on to represent Longford in this Category at the National presentations award in Salthill, Galway at the end of November. If anyone wants to attend this function please let committee members know ASAP.
Also, congratulations to John Mulvihill for receiving the Adult Volunteer award for Newtowncashel for 2016. John has giving a lot of his time to the games for the past number of years especially the draught teams which have being very successful.
Finally,our AGM is Thursday night the 27th of November at 9pm in the Hill. New committee members are needed and also Volunteers to mentor and coach children for the various events.
If you have some spare time and would love to help out please come to AGM. One of the main topics for the AGM will be the issue regarding Amalgamation with other Areas.

G.A.A. ELECTION LAUNCH
Local candidate, Martin Skelly ,will be launching his bid to become President of the G.A.A. ,with a function in the Peer Inn, Lisnacusha, on Thursday night the 3rd of November at 9.oo p.m Music on the night is by none other than Country Music star,Declan Nerney. Please support,as it is an honour for the parish of Cashel,to have someone as capable and competent as Martin,running for this very prestigious position.

Newtowncashel ICA monthly meeting takes place on Tuesday the 1st November at 8pm in "The Hill" Newtowncashel. New members welcome as always.

FOLK CHOIR
Rhere will be a Senior Choir practice,this Friday the 28th of October,at 8.00 p.m. in the Church.This is the first rehearsal for Christmas.Al members are asked to attend.

FISHING COMPETITION
Cashel Angling Club hold their annual Pike Fishing Competition starting from Barley Harbour on Sunday the 6th of November at 11a.m.
First Prize is a Sheelin fiberglass boat. Entrance fee is €100 per boat.

P.T.A.A.
The Newtowncashel Branch of Longford Regional PTAA,announce that the Annual Dinner Dance will take place this year on Friday the 11th of November in the Rustic Inn,Abbeyshrule. Music on the night is by T.R.Dallas and his band.Tickets are €25.00 each for this function.Dinner will be served at 9.00 p.m. As always,a great night is in store. Tickets can be purchased from any member of the local committee.

SETT DANCING CLASSES
Classes commenced on Tuesday 20th September in St. Failtheachs GAA club house at 8pm.
Classes are suitable for beginners and you dont need a partner.
Come along and get fit while having fun.

Art classes in Ballymahon are to re-commence in October with Tutor Frances Kelleher. Beginners classes on Tuesday mornings and Improvers in the evenings, time to be decided. TOURISM WITH BUSINESS CERTIFICATE
Looking for a career focused course? Then enrol on Longford College of Further Education’s 1 year Tourism with Business programme starting September 2016. Ireland is going through a tourism regeneration with employment potential from Center Parcs and from initiatives such as The Wild Atlantic Way, The Greenway Cycle Project and Ireland’s Ancient East project. The course offers practical business skills for the workplace as well as accreditation from Quality Qualifications Ireland and awards up to 400 CAO points for progression to third level institutions. This course is free to those in receipt of BTEA or who qualify for a SUSI grant* and to holders of a medical card. The registration fee and government levy is €330 for all other students. Macra are looking for young people to join a new Macra club. Macra is a non profit organisation for young people 17-35,it has 6 key activities such as Agriculture,Sports,Performing Arts,Travel,Public Speaking and Community Involvoment. You dont need to be a farmer to join.
