CONGRATULATIONS CIARA
Congratulations to Ciara Casey, Clonmee on her recent success in Irish Dancing and Music. Ciara came 3rd in the Irish Open Irish Dancing Championships in City West, came 1st and 2nd in Flute and whistle in Ferbane Feis Ceol, and also qualified at the Longford Fleadh for Leinster in Edenderry. Ciara is also a member of the Wolf Tone Céilí Band which will also be competing in Leinster. We wish Ciara the very best in Leinster and hopes she makes it to Derry for the All Irelands.
TIDY TOWNS
The monthly Tidy Towns meeting will be held in "The Hill" on Wednesday July 3rd at 8.30pm. All members are asked to attend please.
Full marks to the people who have done so much to present the Village to best advantage. All are asked to be vigilant with regard to litter disposal and control. In 2012 the first adjudication took place on June 5th. The judges are due any day now and may well already have visited!

PARISH BARBEQUE
The Annual Parish Barbeque takes place on the Bank Holiday Sunday, the 4th of August, at 5p.m. at the Quarry Park once again.This event was a great success last year, and should be even much better this year. Flower Garden Competition: This competition is open to ICA members only. 1st Prize: Philo Kelly, Perpetual Trophy and valuable runner up prizes for 2nd and 3rd place in the competition.
Vegetable Garden Competition: This competition is open to all gardeners, male and female in Co. Longford. 1st Prize: Quinn Supply Stores, Perpetual Trophy and valuable runner up prizes for 2nd and 3rd prize in the competition.

Cemetery Sundays – Saints’ Island Cemetery, August 18th; Cashel Cemetery, August 25th. Mass and Prayers for the Dead, 6.00pm. These Masses will replace the 10.30am Mass in the Church.
Pattern Day will be celebrated at Lady Well, Derrydarragh, on Saturday September 7th, the eve of the Feast of the Birthday of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Mass follows the recitation of the Rosary at 6.00pm. This Mass will replace the Saturday evening Mass in the Church.

Votes in the election of a new Parish Pastoral Council were counted on Tuesday last week. Results will be published when those elected have accepted the positions.
ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY
A meeting of the Newtowncashel Branch of the Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability will be held in "The Hill" on Thursday July 4th at 8.30pm. All members are asked to attend please.
HARVEST FESTIVAL
A Sponsored Walk takes place along the Grand Canal at Kenagh on Sunday July 14th. The Festival is in Newtowncashel on Sunday September 1st. Proceeds are in aid of St Christopher’s, Newtowncashel Tidy Towns and Cashel GAA Club.
Friday night’s Festival Table Quiz realised €580.00. The organisers thank all who participated and supported.

DOG WARDEN
