FIRST HOLY COMMUNNION
Last Sunday,the 11th of May was First Holy Communnion Day.Six Children recieved the Blessed Eucharist for the first time.The Mass at 12.00 noon replaced the scheduled Sunday Mass.
Thanls to all concerned for organising everything and special thanks to the Parent's Association for supplying the refreshments served in The Hill afterwards.
TIDY TOWNS WALK
The Tidy Towns Nature Walk held on Bank Holiday Monday was very successful,with the bad weather clearing just in time.The committee thank all those who helped and supported it.Thanks to Fr Gerry Brady for all his help and assistance also.
AN POST RÁS
Stage 1 passes through County Longford this Sunday,the 18th of May,reaching Edgeworthstown at 2.30 p.m.,approx. A 'King of the Mountains' climb features at Richmount Hill,Carrickboy,(400 feet).At ballymahon Post Office,theres a Prime & Hotspot Sprint'. The stage then continues to Lanesboro en route to Roscommon.
TRACTOR RUN
Longford Harvest Festival are holding a Tractor Run on Sunday the 25th of May.Leaving Gav's Bar,Kenagh at 12.00 noon to Newtowncashel a 1 .00 p.m. approx. and returning to Gav's Bar Kenagh.Entry Fee is €20.00 per tractor.

NEW ARRIVALS
Congratulations to both John and Antoinette Flood on the birth of their baby boy recently and to both James and Linda Flynn on the birth of their baby girl.

ROSARY
Recitation of the Rosary continues on Fridays at 7.30 p.m. until the end of the month.All are invited to make a special effort to attend the Rosary during the month of May.
TEEN MASS
The next Teen Mass takes place on Saturday the 31st of May,Feast of the Asscension.The focus will be on examinations.A preperatory meeting will be held on Thursday the 15th of May at 8.00 p.m.
CEMETERY SUNDAYS
Saint's Island Cemetery,24th of August.
Cashel Cemetery,31st of August.
These Masses will replace the 10.30 a.m. Mass in the Church.
PATTERN DAY
Pattern Day will be celebrated at Lady well,Derrydarragh,on Saturday the 6th of September.Mass follows recitation of the Rosary at 6.00 p.m. This Mass will replace the Saturday evening Mass in the Church.
RELICS
The Relics of St.Thérése of Lisieux visit the Carmelite Church ,Moate,,on Friday the 16th of May.Mass will be celebrated at 7.15. p.m.
FIANNA FAIL
Fianna Fáil hold their annual Churchgate collection this weekend 17th/18th May.
FINE GAEL
The Newtowncashel Branch Fine Gael held their A.G.M. recently.There was a big of turnout of membewrs present.Councillor Seán Farrell gave a rundown of works carried out by the county Council in the recent past and beyond.And also plans for future remedial work in the pipeline
Sean is running for a seat on Longford County Council and earnestly asks for yopur support.
The election of officers then took place,and the committee was returned en block for the coming year.The branch would like to thank everyone who subscribed so generously to the Fine Gael Church Collection.A vote of sympathywas passed with all those who had bereavments in the past year.
