“THE LAST WEEK”
The choirs of Newtowncashel, Scramogue and Tang present a re-enactment of the Last Week of Jesus’ life on earth, featuring music from Jesus Christ Superstar and other pieces, in The Church of the Blessed Virgin, Newtowncashel on Friday March 22nd at 8.00pm; in Scramogue Church on Saturday March 23rd at 6.00pm, and in Tang Church on Saturday March 24th at 8.00pm.  Everyone is welcome. A great performance is assured!

ST MARY’S NATIONAL SCHOOL ENROLMENT
Enrolment for St Mary’s National School for September 2013 is taking place now until March 22nd.  Enrolment packs can be collected from the school and relevant forms returned during this period.

FLOWERS
There are thirty-five flower beds in the village, big and small, all cared for by the Tidy Towns.  We would like to hear from anyone who has the interest to adopt a flower bed for the coming season.  The Tidy Towns will supply all the flowers.  Please ring Ann Flanagan on (043) 332 5049 if you are interested.

CASHEL GAA
The Club invites people to take out membership and to support the Club Lotto.  Club members will visit the houses of the parish in coming weeks to provide details enabling people to do this.

PIONEER OUTING
Carrickedmond PTAA are considering a tour on a Sunday in July to visit the Titanic exhibition in Belfast.  Those who are interested are asked to contact any of the following telephone numbers – (087) 646 6075, (087) 697 4775, (044) 935 7442, (044) 935 7582, not later than April 5th.  The tour is open to non-members of the PTAA.  Cashel Pioneers will join forces with Carrickedmond for this outing.

SCHOOL BOARD OF MANAGEMENT
A meeting of St Mary’s National School Board of Management will be held in the school on Thursday March 21st at 8.00pm.  All members are requested to attend please.

PTAA
A Diocesan Pioneer Meeting will be held in Tealach Íosa (The McGoey Hall), St Mel’s Road/Chapel Street, Longford on Thursday March 21st at 8.30pm.  A full attendance is expected as the Pioneers meet at Diocesan level only twice a year.

LONGFORD HARVEST FESTIVAL
Longford Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday September 1st.  The event features working displays of vintage machinery, horse and tractor, with associated demonstrations and activities.  This promises to be a very interesting and entertaining afternoon for family and enthusiasts.  Proceeds on the day to St Christopher’s.  
The next meeting will be held in Fallon’s, Newtowncashel, on Tuesday week, March 26th, at 9.00pm.  A fundraising Table Quiz is scheduled for Friday April 26th.

TIDY TOWNS
A Tidy Towns meeting will be held in "The Hill" on Friday March 22nd at 8.00pm.

LONGFORD ASSOCIATION FOR PERSONS WITH INTELLECTUAL DISABILITY
The Newtowncashel Branch of Longford Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability will meet in "The Hill" on Friday March 22nd at 9.00pm.

LONGFORD HOSPICE
Newtowncashel Drama Group has presented to Longford Hospice a cheque for €2,700, proceeds of their recent fundraiser.  The group thank all who supported the cause so generously.

SYMPATHY
We offer our sincere sympathy to Peter O’Boyle, Cornadough, and his family on the recent death of his father, Barney O’Boyle, Kenagh, recently.  May his soul rest in peace.
Our sincere condolences are extended to the family of Kathleen Tiernan nee Sweeney, Gortletteragh, and formerly of Derrygowna, who died last week.  May her soul rest in peace.
And our sympathy is extended to the family of Kathleen Egan, nee Farrell, Drumraney, and formerly of Clonmee, who died on Thursday last.  May her soul rest in peace.

THE ROSE OF TRALEE
Longford Federation ICA is happy to sponsor a Longford entrant in the 2013 Rose of Tralee competition.  The criteria for the successful applicant are as follows:
1 – the applicant must be from Longford
2 – must have a connection in ICA, ie mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, Godmother, etc
3 – be aged between 18 years on 1st January and 27 years on 31st August.

COUNTY LONGFORD RURAL TRANSPORT.
Please note that all Rural Transport - Friday Services, throughout the County, will run on Thursday 28th March, with the same collection and departure times.  All age-groups are welcome to travel!  Wishing a very “Happy Easter” to all Rural Transport passengers and supporters.

TALKS FOR THE YEAR OF FAITH
The final talk for the Year of Faith will be given in the Pastoral Centre, St Mel’s College, Longford, on Thursday March 21st, at 8.00pm.  The topic is “Faith and Resurrection”, the speaker Sr Elizabeth McNamee.  A Sister of Mercy and a science teacher, Sr Elizabeth will approach this compelling topic with questions and insights from the world of science.  All are welcome.

STATIONS OF THE CROSS
The Stations of the Cross will not be conducted this Friday March 22nd, but will be performed on Good Friday.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE
The Annual Pilgrimage takes place from May 27th to June 1st, five nights, fully inclusive price €699.00.  Flights from Knock.  Contact Joe Walsh Tours , 143 Lower Baggot Street, Dublin 2 telephone (01) 241 0811, (01) 241 0812.  Details regarding the special section for the sick from Rev. Michael Scanlon PP, Cloghan, Birr, Co Offaly.  
The organisers request the names of sick people who would like to join the pilgrimage.  Names should be submitted as soon as possible please to Elizabeth Clyne (043) 332 5156.

PASTORAL COUNCIL
The Parish Pastoral Council will meet in "The Hill" on Wednesday March 20th at 8.30pm.  The business of the meeting includes the distribution of financial acknowledgements for the year 2012.

VOLUNTEERS FOR HOLY WEEK
Fr Brady would like to hear from people who are willing to read or participate in processions and the re-enactment of the Washing of the Feet.
