TABLE QUIZ
Longford Harvest Festival holds a Table Quiz in the Peer Inn, Lisnacusha, on Friday night the 26th of April at 9.00 p.m.  Proceeds go towards St. Christopher's, Longford.  Your support would be greatly appreciated.

COMPOSTING WORKSHOP
Don’t miss this unique opportunity to learn everything you need to know about home composting and how to help people reduce waste.
The workshop is for people who have an interest in protecting our environment, and who want to make a difference in their community.
International composting expert, Craig Benton, known as Dr.Compost, will lead this workshop on the Tuesday the 30th of April at 10:00 AM in  the Quarry Park.  
The people who attend will be trained in all aspects of composting from its biology to the practical building and operation of a range of composting systems.
Composting at home makes sense! It benefits everyone, including saving money through the prevention of waste, conservation of resources and protection of our local environment.

ICA NEWTOWNCASHEL
Newtowncashel ICA Guild are hosting a Gardening Demonstration & information night by Brendan Farrell of Ardagh Garden Centre on Tuesday 30th April at 9.00p.m. in “The Hill”. Raffle for valuable prizes.  Free admission.  Donations if desired to the Irish Cancer Society.  So to have all your gardening questions answered please come along and bring a friend.  Everyone welcome.

NATURE WALK
Newtowncashel Tidy Towns Annual Sponsored Nature Walk takes place on Bank Holiday Monday, May 6th.  
Primary School Children start at 2.30 pm from Derrydarragh.
Under-16’s and Adults start at 2.30 pm from “The Hill”.  
All finish at the GAA Centre
Adult participants will be included in a draw for attractive prizes – full details next week.
Participants are asked to write their names on reverse of cards which should be handed in at “The Hill”.  
Cards or cash cannot be accepted at Derrydarragh.
Phone credit, €40, €20 and €10 will be for 1st, 2nd and 3rd highest INDIVIDUAL sponsorship collected by Primary School Participants.
All prizes for and Children, will be presented at the GAA Centre.  
Refreshments will be served afterwards.

FLOWERS
The Tidy Towns would like to thank all who have agreed to take care of a flower bed in the village during the summer season.
All the flower beds have been now allocated.
The Tidy Towns would also like to thank those who have given financial assistance towards the purchase of flowers.

BASKETBALL VICTORY
Huge congratulations to the basketball players of St Mary’s National School who were victorious at the Blitz in The Mall Sports Complex on Sunday last!  The team topped their pool with match scores of 16-4 and 20-2, won their semi-final with a scoreline of 22-2, and were victorious over Ballinalee in the Final with an incredible scoreline of 20-nil.  Ballinalee did not make it easy for them by any standards but Newtowncashel played out of their skins and never let up till the final buzzer went off!!  The panel on the day were: Alanna Flood, Cathy Kelly, Emma Casey, Jamie Birmingham, Lochlann Healy, Brian Kelly, Eoin Mulvihill, David Sweeney, Joseph Kenny, Caoimhe Flood, Lisa Dowd, Gerard Brennan, Conor Skelly, Maeve Dervin, Ciara Healy, Alanna Cassidy and Daniel Farrell.  Congratulations to every one of them and to their mentor Joe Mulvihill who has worked tirelessly with them! An extra congratulatory mention to Ciara Healy and team captain Jamie Birmingham who were also named female and male Players of the Tournament!!

THANK YOU
St Mary’s National School Parents’ Association would like to express sincere gratitude to all those who supported their very successful Quiz in The Peer last Saturday night.  Thanks also to those who bought raffle tickets and made donations to the raffle.  The winners of the raffle prizes were as follows: 1st prize, iPod Touch – Brid Sweeney, Derrygowna; 2nd prize, €100 meal voucher – Martin Farrell, Clonfower; 3rd prize, iPod Shuffle – Peter Murray, Derrydarragh; 4th prize, iPod Shuffle – Laura Hand, Newpark.  Thank to Declan Fox for the use of the premises, to John Kenny for setting the questions and being quizmaster on the night, and to Declan Gilmore for amplification.  All monies raised will be used for the benefit of the National School children.

PIONEER OUTING
Carrickedmond PTAA are arranging a tour on a Sunday in July to visit the Titanic exhibition in Belfast.  Those who are interested are asked to contact any of the following telephone numbers – (087) 646 6075, (087) 697 4775, (044) 935 7442, (044) 935 7582, not later than April 5th.  The tour is open to non-members of the PTAA.  Cashel Pioneers will join forces with Carrickedmond for this outing.

MULTIPLE SCLEROSIS CHURCHGATE COLLECTION
Thanks to everyone who sponsored the recent church gate collection for Longford Multiple Sclerosis.  A total of €350 was raised, once again thanks to everyone.

COME DINE WITH US FUNDRAISER
Thanks to everyone who attended the MS fundraiser held in the Peer on 13th April, and to all our sponsors and helpers that gave so generously, what a great night was had by all, a total of €1,300 was raised for Longford Multiple Sclerosis.

CASHEL GAA
The Club invites people to take out membership and to support the Club Lotto.  Club members will visit the houses of the parish in coming weeks to provide details enabling people to do this. Also well done to the Cashel Senior Football team on their win over Killashee last Saturday, in the first round of the League.

LONGFORD HARVEST FESTIVAL
Longford Harvest Festival will be held in Newtowncashel on Sunday September 1st.  The event features working displays of vintage machinery, horse and tractor, with associated demonstrations and activities.  This promises to be a very interesting and entertaining afternoon for family and enthusiasts.  Proceeds on the day to St Christopher’s.  

INVITATION TO TENDER
Construction of new Toilet Block and provision of associated services, including drainage and septic tank upgrading – expressions of interest are invited from suitably qualified Contractors who wish to be included on the select tender list for the above project.  Applicants must confirm C2 tax compliance, include employer’s and public liability insurance, confirm experience to act as Project Supervisor (Construction) under the Safety Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005/Regulations 2006, and attach copies of relevant documentation.  Expressions of interest must be returned by 12.00 noon on May 7th 2013, to Messrs. Quinn Barnwall Buggy, Architects, Bloomfield House, Bloomfield Avenue, South Circular Road, Dublin 8.

ROSARY.
The Rosary is recited in the Church every Friday at 7.30 p.m. All are welcome.

LOURDES PILGRIMAGE
