TIDY TOWNS
The Newtowncashel Tidy Towns Committee wish to thank everyone who helped out in any way to keep our Village tidy over the past year. These include our  Fás Workers, and also those workers, who Peter Hanley organised for a clean up over the Summer, and Chairperson Michael Murray and all the Committee.
In the recent past, our President, Kieran Eustace passed away..He served as President for the past number of years, and his advice, good humour at meetings and his generosity will never be forgotten.
Finally ,a very Happy Christmas to all, including our Local Correspondent , John Kenny, who has been so helpful, and also the Staff of the Longford Leader.

COMMUNITY GAMES
There will be no Training in any events this Saturday the  27th and Sunday the  28th of December.
Newtowncashel Community Games would like to wish all the children and parents a very happy Christmas and a Prosperous New Year.
Competitions start on January 12th.

CHRISTMAS DAY RUN
The Annual Christmas Day Run from Newtowncashel to Lanesborough in aid of the Longford branch of MS Ireland is being organised again for the 24th year. As a result of this event approximately €170,000 has been raised for Multiple Sclerosis. All are welcome, walkers start from the Hill at 11.45 am and runners at 12.15, finish at the Hall in Lanesborough where refreshments are available. Further details and sponsorship cards are available from Michael Flood, Newtowncashel (Tel: 086-0880855); Brigid Mullooly, Lanesborough (Tel: 04333-21019); L and K's Village Shop in Newtowncashel or O’Brien’s Corner Shop, Lanesborough. All participants will receive a free t-shirt kindly sponsored by Peter Hanley Motors. We would greatly appreciate your support as this is in aid of a very worthy cause. Longford MS has come to depend on this event over the past 23 years and would like to extend their appreciation for the effort given.

CHOIRS
The Senior Choir sing at this year's Midnight Mass.All involved are asked to be present at 9.00 p.m.
The Junior Choir sing at Mass on Christmas Day.All who are to participate are asked to attend,and be there at 10.00 a.m.

SCHOOL CONCERT
The Staff and Pupils of St.Mary's National School presented their Bi-ennial Christmas Concert in The Hill,last Wednesday the 17th and Thursday the 18th of December.The concert consisted of three performances presented by the Junior,Middle and Senior pupils.This was an exceptionally brilliant show,with the amount of hard work and practice clearly in evidence.Well done to all involved,and it is obvious that there's no shortage of Talent in Newtowncashel.

I.C.A.
Newtowncashel I.C.A. hold an open evening,on January the 7th,2015,at 8.00 p.m. in The Hill.The I.C.A. is the largest women's association in Ireland,with more than 10,000 members and over 500 Guilds accross the country. Newtowncashel I.C.A. are now looking for new blood.Their monthly meetings,blend both business and fun,with numerous events organised and trips undertaken.Please do come along.

CHRISTMAS ARRANGEMENTS
Christmas Eve,Wednesday the 24th of December,Midnight Mass at 10.00 p.m.,preceded by the Blessing of the Crib.
Christmas Day,December the 25th,Children's Mass at 10.30 a.m.

CHRISTMAS GREETINGS
We extend a warm welcome home to all who have come back to Cashel for  Christmas,and we think of those who have been unable to make the trip.We wish all the people of Cashel,a Peaceful and Happy Christmas, among all your loved ones,and we hope Santy was particularly good to you this year!
