DRAMA
Newtowncashel Drama Group presented 'Philadelphia Here i Come', a play by Brian Friel, to full houses last weekend, and the show was a tremendous success.Well done to all involved from the director ,to the cast ,to all who worked behind the scenes...this production was some thing special. A special word of thanks to all those who sponsored the production.

PLOUGHING MATCH
Longford Ploughing Assocation will host a Novice Match in Brian and Tess Doyle's stubble field beside Newtowncashel village on Saturday 8th March at 12noon.  It's a good chance to bring your own tractor and plough, shine the mouldboards and have it perfect for the next ploughing project at home.  First time participants will receive guidance on completing a plot to competition standard, under NPA rules. You must be over 16 and the fee is  €10.  Some competition ploughs will be available for sharing. Advice on tractor and plough settings, adjustments and attachments will help to achieve better cultivation, a cleaner healthier crop and also save time and diesel on the farm. So all young farmers could save a euro at home by coming along. Hopefully the weather will show some compassion and dry up a little.  Check out youtube to see how Nathan Carter managed at a wet ploughing bootcamp last April. Follow longfordploughing on facebook for updates.
