Peter McKenna Appointment:
We send congratulations best wishes to local man Peter McKenna, formerly of Greenhall, who has been appointed as chairman of the National Concert Hall in Dublin.
Peter of course is the power behind Croke Park where he’s been stadium director for many years, in this role he has transformed the home of the GAA.
His appointment comes following four years on the board of Directors, and his appointment comes at a challenging time for the Concert Hall as it starts a major redevelopment programme.
Peters experience in business development and financial planning will be critical to the future of this national institution as well as experience in developing sponsorship and fundraising.
Another big win locally:
We congratulate Angela McArdle, Cormaglava, on winning the 50/50 draw last week in the Ballymahon Convent Day Care Centre.
Her winning came to €770.00.

Barley Harbour:
Local Councillors have informed me that after many attempts over the years a long-term lease has finally secured for Barley Harbour with Longford County Council. Barley Harbour means a lot to the community, and this is a big step towards protecting it and making the most of what’s there for everyone to enjoy.
The next step now is to hear from you.
A public meeting is going to be organised with the regeneration team from Longford County Council so hopefully as many people as possible can come along, share your thoughts, and help shape what happens next. Cashels Annual big Spring Clean-up:
As has been the tradition for a number of years now, the annual spring clean-up is happening on the weekend of Sat 11th and Sun 12th April.
We hope all volunteers will be able to assist. Our Litter WhatsApp will be available, and we will allocate roads or sections of roads to individuals’ or small groups.
If you are not in that group and wish to help out, please let me know. Annual Daffodil Day:
The fund-raising day held recently was an outstanding success and the amount of money raised at the Hill came to an amazing €2,010.00.
The organisers wish to thank everyone for their generous support.
Grateful appreciation also, to Precision Health Ballymahon for their sponsorship of a draw on the day for 2 free Cancer Risk Consultations at their Precision Clinical rooms, Ballymahon.
The Future of The Hill:
A meeting planned for next Tuesday April 7th to discuss the future of the Hill and elect a new committee will have to be postponed as Fr Kenny and others are unavailable next week.
A new date will be announced as soon as possible.
A number of people in a steering group are presently investigating options for the future of our community centre and will present them to the meeting when called.
Playing in Croke Park: - the ultimate dream. The chance of a lifetime and it’s happening next Tuesday, all u10 boys and girls in Southern Gaels are playing in Croke Park, what an experience for all concerned.
Well done to all organisers and mentors.
Happy Easter:
Here’s wishing all in the group and their families a very happy and enjoyable Easter.
We hope it’s spent in company with family and friends. To all the little folk, don’t overdo it with the chocolate.
Liam Finnegan.
