Get Well Wishes:
We join with all parishioners, family and friends in wishing our parish Priest Father Kenny a full and speedy recovery as he’s presently hospitalised. A large crowd attended a Mass last night in St Marys Church to show their support for him and for his full and speedy recovery.
He’s a man who can be approached by one and all and is a great listener, who has endeared him to all in our parish.
Let hope he’ll be out and about shortly and back to full health.

Townland Trivia:
This week we look at Leab, pronounced labe. First recorded as Leab in 1813, official Irish name is An Leadhb. A note in 1835 says that it was pronounced Leibe. The few records spell it Leab. In Irish leadbh, is both a verb, meaning to tear apart, and a noun, meaning a strip, in this case of land. Hill Committee:
In a recent post re the Hill, I recorded the outgoing hall committee but omitted to include Sean Farrell who was a member for many years. Apologies for the error.
Parish Day????:
Last Dec, when we had the switching on of the Christmas lights and Santy visited, I was chatting to some parishioners and they said only for this event we wouldn’t have a parish gathering in 2025, sadly they were right.
It got me thinking, surely it would be possible for all groups to come together and organise a proper parish day for all, it’s been done before and has been very successful, so it can be done again.
With this in mind I’m hoping to gather together some like-minded people next week to explore the idea, possible the August weekend would be a great date to aim for.
In Rural Ireland we need to realise we are in an era where its, self-help or no help.
There are lots of funding about for many ideas, but unless we the people get off our collective asses, nothing will happen.
Would Wed 20th at 8.30pm be a good night to start. Hopefully all groups would attend to get the idea off the ground.
