Bereaved:
We send our sincere sympathies to the Ward family on the passing of Claire Ward (née Bawle), Cullentra, Newtowncashel, which occurred on Sat last May 30th while surrounded by her family in Inis Ree Nursing Home.
Claire will be lovingly missed by her family; sons Gerry and Pat, sister Tess Dowd, daughters-in-law Dee and Mary, grandchildren Daniel, Aidan, Laura, Rachel, Andrew and Abby, sisters-in-law, brother-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and friends.
She was a constant in many of our lives, a chatty, cheerful lady with a word for everyone and will be sadly missed by so many.
To Gerry and Pat and their extended families, to her sister Tess Dowd, our thoughts are with you all at this sad time. May Claires gentle spirit rest easy.

Road Closures:
Unfortunately, road closures continue in Ballagh which is no doubt a big inconvenience for many but will pay big dividends in the end when the west side of the parish will have a fit for purpose water supply, so the message is please bear with it in the short term.
Girls School Football:
Cashel School girls began their championship campaign in April and won all 5 games (by a large margin) to get to the final in Pearse Park on the 25th May.
Unfortunately, in 28 degree heat the match was not to be theirs but the girls showed grit and determination throughout.
Sile Mulvihill and Ciara Healy trained them.
Team panel as follows: Aoife Ferguson, Roisin Flynn, Amelia Campbell, Lauren Mulvihill, Jane Boardman, Ailish Dermody, Helena Casey, Jessica Skelly.
Well done, you did your school proud. Roll on next year.
Exam Time:
Good luck to all our young parishioners who started their Leaving Cert and Junior Cert exams yesterday, Tuesday.
We hope it all goes well for all of you, the most important thing to remember is that there is life after the exams, later in life you will look back on this time as a mere blip on the screen of life.
The world is a massive jigsaw and you being unique have a place in that jigsaw.
Townland Trivia:
This week is the turn of Newpark, pronounced as written.
First recorded in 1738 as New Park, Official Irish name is Corr Dharach.
First named in this way as a deed of transfer of 1738, taking its name from the big house and grounds, amounting to a small demesne.
Before that, it had different spellings of an Irish phrase that resembles the official Irish – Cordarye, for example, which would mean Oak Hill, cordarach.
Why does the official Irish have two rr’s in Corr? One indicates a hill, two, a hollow.
