Mayo and Stephen win big:
Firstly, like most of the country I congratulate Mayo on their fantastic win on Sunday, as they say, “the curse is broken”, 75 years is a hell of a long wait.
Their win also brought cheer to Cashel as Stephen Weafer won € 250 in the All-Ireland Score Predicted with a score line of Mayo 0.23 and Kerry 1.17.
Congratulations Stephen, enjoy the winnings.
Townland Trivia:
This week we look at the townland of Tipper, pronounced as written, first recorded as Tibber in 1604. Official Irish name in An Tobar.
This name does not come from Tobarbut from tiobrad which has a different soundand in older Irish was tipret. Furthermore, it is not a complete name. Tipperary is Tiobrad Árann, the well of a district called Ára. Tipper once had a qualifying word not now known, included with it in the ancient name. It was also spelled Tibber. Tobar Chaisil, the well of Cashel, would be a fitting would be a fitting Irish name.
