Cemetery Sunday:

This Sunday August 23rd is the traditional annual cemetery Sunday for Saints Island.

Mass will be celebrated at 1pm and blessing of the graves will follow.
Hopefully all will make the effort to have their family plot looking well, there will be a collection for the upkeep of the graveyard, and we hope all will contribute so that the good work of maintenance can continue.

Bereaved:

It is with sadness that we record the passing of John Tiernan, Collum, Newtowncashel, which occurred last Friday August 14th.
John has been a constant in the parish all his life and a more pleasant individual you would be hard pressed to find.
He loved the land and farmed up until his health made it difficult, he also loved dancing and enjoyed nothing better than a good ceili.
His funeral mass took place Monday last followed by internment in Cashel Graveyard.
To his wife Mary, daughter Caitriona, her partner Niall, grandchildren, sisters Annie Mai and Agnus and extended family we express our sincere sympathy. May his gentle spirit rest easy in his native Collum.

Old Proverb: (food for thought)

For the sake of the Rose, we must water the thorns, meaning to truly value the good things in life, we have to acknowledge and address its challenges.

FUNDRAISER – BALL RACE

The hard working Afterschool facility committee are holding a Ball Race fundraiser to support our Afterschool Facility very soon, and we would really appreciate your support!

I would urge all to contribute to this fundraiser, it’s vital for the long term viability of our community to have such a facility available to young couples planning to set up home in the parish. Without such basic facilities couples would see it as a negative to their ability to raise a family in Cashel. Please support generously.

They also need as much help as they can get! The more people we have helping, the more successful our fundraiser will be!

Every contribution and helping hand makes a difference!

Please spread the word and come along on the day.

What a lovely idea:

Ronan Muldoon from Cashel GAA Club sent me this item below to publicise.

The GAA are going to erect a memorial to children who have passes away and as you can see below, it’s self-explanatory and I hope all will contribute their little loved ones no longer with them.

Please pass the word around to ensure all are aware.
