Bereaved:
Sadly, this week we lost a lovely lady and one of Cashels oldest resident with the passing of Mrs Hand, Newpark, or Mary Ann as she was known to her friends. In her 92nd year, she had been hail and hearty to the very end with a mind as sharp as Google itself and surrounded by her family which she described as her whole life. With her husband Johnny, she dedicated her life to her family raising five children, all of which lived close or relatively close to her which was a great joy to her.
Her funeral took place yesterday, Tuesday in St Marys Church Cashel at 12 noon with burial in St Johns cemetery, Lanesboro.
To her heartbroken sons John, Tom, Ger and Pauric, daughter Mary Rose and her extended family we offer our sincere sympathy at this very sad time. May her gentle spirit rest easy.
Wedding Bells:
We send congratulations and best wishes to Mel Farrell and Caoimhe Lawlor who were married last weekend in the church of the Nativity of the Blessed Mary, Keadue, Co. Roscommon. Mel, youngest son of Gerry and Mairead Farrell, Portanure, married Caoimhe Lawlor, daughter of Damian and Florry Lawlor, Athlone, with the reception held in the lovely Kilronan Castle closeby. The happy couple were joined by family and friends from near and far with the two groomsmen Gavin Kelly and Mark Murtagh travelling all the way from Australia to celebrate with their great friend Mel.
We wish the happy couple many years of health and happiness together.

After School Ball Run Fundraiser:
What a day!
We are absolutely delighted to say that our first-ever fundraiser for our community afterschool was a huge success!
Our Ball Race was a fantastic day filled with fun, laughter and a wonderful sense of community. We were blown away by the support we received from our local community and the wider community, and we truly cannot thank everyone enough.
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who bought a ball, made a donation, volunteered their time, helped organise the day, supported us behind the scenes, or simply came along and enjoyed the day. Every single bit of support means so much to us and will help us as we begin the next stages of planning and developing our community afterschool.

All Schools Back:
All good things come to an end, and all students are back to studies after a fantastic summer of fine weather. I noticed a few tears on Thurs
morning of last week in Cashel as the junior infants’ class arrived for their first day in “big school”. Mind you it was Mammy tears as the little ones headed off, without a care in the world.
Bereaved:
We wish to extend sincere sympathy with our neighbour Aisling Orohoe and partner Thomas Rowan on the sudden and untimely passing of Aislings mother Christine which occurred on Sunday last Sept 6th.
Christines’ funeral mass took place today Wednesday at 12 noon in St Mathews church, Ballymahon, followed by burial in Shrule cemetery. May her gentle spirit rest easy.
We also express our sincere sympathy to John Fallon and family, Cullentra, on the recent passing of Johns cousin Michale Fallon who passed away earlier this week in England. May his spirit rest easy.
25 Card Drive Postponed:
The weeks 25 Card Drive in the Local on Monday night was postponed as a mark of respect due to the passing of Mrs Hand, Newpark.
Her sons, Ger and Pauric are regular players and it was very appropriate that it be called off out of respect for the family.
Next Monday night the group are back in full swing and starting their Autumn/Winter sessions which will be in aid of Cancer Charities, so we hope there will be a good turn out for such a worthy cause.
Lough Ree 2000 Bridge Club:
As the nights begin to get longer, you might be looking for a new pastime/hobby to fill in the long hours, well this may suit your needs. A Cashel Woman, Joan Donnellan is behind the plan so hopefully she will meet up with some parishioners to share her passion for bridge.
Classes starting in Lanesborough Parish Hall on September 24th, Thursday.
Beginners and Improvers welcome.

Lady Well:
Sunday last seen parishioners travel to Lady Well for the annual pattern day Mass, a tradition going back into the mist of time. Thanks to many volunteers who had the place looking neat and tidy, lots of strimming and hedge trimming I believe.
Also great to see Fr Kenny back amongst his parishioners after his recent illness, we wish him well in his recovery.
