Wise Words: Food for Thought:
It is better to remain silent at the risk of being thought a fool, than to talk and remove all doubt of it.
Wise words attributed to Maurice Switzer.
Storms/Ash Dieback:
Last week we had a taste of what may be in store for us over the winter months, a storm, not a major one but certainly tested anything that wasn’t well tied down.
The main road to Lanesboro was blocked for a short time when a tree was blown down, and would you guess the type, an Ash which has suffered from dieback disease it looked ok from looking at it but rotting from the inside out. You could almost bet that more will be blown down over the winter months, they are seemingly the responsibility of the landowner, so the question is: will the landowner be responsible for injury or death to some unfortunate road used. Now is the time to act and avoid such a tragedy and possibly huge personal cost.

The previous week Ballymahon Secondary School also organised a blitz, our talented young ladies did extremely well but were pipped at the post, loosing the final by a small margin.
Well done to Ballymahon Vocational School and Ballymahon Secondary School for running the events and congratulations to sixth class on their great success.
