Halloween in Cashel:
This is our first attempt to bring a sense of Halloween to the village; we thank Ray and Grainne Moynihan for the use of their lawn. We also hope to have some scary items around the Local for next weekend.
Tidy Towns Results:
Congratulations to all involved in the Tidy Towns on winning a Silver medal and third in Co. Longford for their participation in keeping the village clean, fresh and beautiful in the recent Tidy Towns Awards ceremony that took place on Friday the 23rd of October in Croke Park.
There was an increase of 16 marks from 2025.
The Quarry Park got great praise from this years adjucator who’s visit was their first to Newtowncashel.
The Tidy Towns committee would like to thank all who helped them throughout the year to keep the village looking beautiful, especially Anthony Cassidy their CE worker who without his help continues to keep the village looking so good throughout the year.

Bereaved:
With sadness we record the passing of Teresa Burke, which occurred on Monday last at Mullingar Hospital. Many will remember her from her childhood days in Derryhawn, she lived in Mullingar for a time before returning to Longford town, she is survived by her six children,
grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Her funeral mass takes place tomorrow at 2pm in the Cathedral of Christ the King in Mullingar with burial afterwards in Ballyglass cemetery.
We wish to express out sincere sympathy with our neighbours Kathleen McArdle, Jim and Noel
Burke and the extended Burke family at this sad time.
May her gentle spirit rest easy.
Liam Finnegan.
